Blimmin' rain rolleyes

Started to do a bit with my kit but it didnt know whether it was going to rain or not, so I gave it up as a bad job! The small bit I did showed an improvement much as Quinny said.

I'll give it a better go later in ther week - rain permitting!

Of course.... When I'm 100% happy I'll either scan or photograph it and email it to you.... If that doesn't work I'll send you a card template....

Just let me make sure it's a good enough fit.smile
I would appreciate that very much! I'm a computer graphics artist by trade, so I can create an Illustrator/PDF/Photoshop template from whatever you provide--whatever works for you.

Just a thought Quinny but if you're covering it have you considered a green polish? It might be worth considering as once it's covered any imperfections are permanent and I know it'd bug the hell out of me.

Bumpred up to remind those who committed to this, to remember to actually buy the kits now.smile

Discount is available until Thursday and is open to anyone - whether you put your name up initially or not; or whether you have an Aston, or not.

Yes, I think you're right.... I probably put the paint on a bit to heavy.... I'm goingbto try a slightly different method tomorrow..

There's a definite and obvious improvement, and I'm not expecting miracles... But I would like to get a more even coverage and hide a bit more of the white...

Do bear in mind, that my garage is extremely well lit, the car is a eye level and the camera was in Macro...smile

With the car on the floor, and a couple of paces back, it showed a significant improvement.... Not as good as I'd like, but a bit more patience and practice, should yield good results...cool

Then I need to figure out how to apply the Armourfendyikes and how far up the flank I should go...
Save me reading through the whole thread, dDoes the kit come with clear coat and rubbing compound?
The biggest issue is the surface is not paint but clear coat. Filling completely with paint will never match it.
So ideally you need to do the following;
Properly clean out the chips
Touch in with well mixed paint below the level of the clear coat
Build up the chip with clear coat to just above
(now the brave bit) flat out the humps with very very fine wet & dry
Polish out with rubbing compound to blend in to clear coat around it

On applying the PPF a few tips!
get a spray bottle with 1% detergent in distilled water
spray body work
spray out side of film
peel backing and spray glue side as you go
from one point lay the soaking film on to the soaking body work to "float" it
Push any large air bubbles to the edge
Make sure it is where you want it
Use a small rubber blade to push liquid & air out hte edges & dry as you go
Leave to set!

BTW best not to do the PPF film until the chip fixing is well and truly set

UPDATE

Just had word from Chipex that only 14 orders have been received against this offer. frown

We did commit to 20 names to get the deal. Chipex have done their part by giving the % so it would be great if we could fulfill ours...

It would be a shame if our credibility suffered because of this and it jeopardised future arrangements either with this - or other businesses - if the word got around that we hadn't done the bis!

I agree - maybe start a new list of 'who has ordered?!' - (I've got mine by the way).

I'd be prepared to buy one but Quantum Silver is not on the list and I'm not taking a torq drive to my engine bay...

Quinny - like the way you've shaped the lower sill piece to continue the flow of the upper shark fin.

On my DB9 the lower sill piece is oblong, just dropping in a straight line from the upper piece smile

That's how mine was as well. I now have the entire rocker panel covered, which looks to be an improvement. However, they did a crap job and there are quite a few bubbles. Kudos for tackling this job yourself, Quinny!
