Off to test a DBS and V12VS tomorrow...Any advice?
Discussion
Ben from Grange Welwyn was great along with all the other staff.
We went on a really long test drive - I've never driven a test drive car for so long. We went through a variety of roads including some great country roads and some tunnels.
The gear box was surprisingly light, the suspension was surprisingly comfortable and the smile on my face was permanent.
The deposit is paid. Apparently someone else phoned up about it as I was buying it. A few people saw it yesterday and were gonna get back to them today but I snuck early in the morning and grabbed this beautiful baby for myself. Should be ready to pickup by the weekend hopefully.
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm now the proud owner of a Carbon Black Edition V12 Vantage.

PH etiquette is you're not, until it's on your drive and photos are posted on this site.....congratulations!
Hehe, I've got a bit excited...It looked really good in (carbon) black, so shiny, even in today's greyish day. I should've taken a photo or two. But as soon as I pick it up I'll post up loads and then get onto Burghley. Now the restless waiting begins....

Besides myself, off-hand I can think of damianke and cayman-black
Are they gonna give us some kind of special parking area at Burghley for our prestigious group I assume...?? damianke said:
I'm a CB owner. Best car ever. Was in York this weekend with the winter wheels and tyres on and drove back yesterday through the wind and rain. Went through some massive standing water on A roads and motorways and it didn't even blink. Winter tyres are something else...
I'm REALLY curious to see how the current wheels will cope with the wet and cold - at least it's getting closer to spring!mblade123 said:
Congratulations.
You will love it. Once it's warmed up, press the sport button and potter around in 4th. Just to hear that glorious roar
In think that why I was allowed such a long test drive - to let the tyres warm up as it was a bit skittish at the start. The funny thing is the Sport button was only turned on for like 5% of the test drive - I didn't even notice it wasn't on as I was enjoying myself so much! You will love it. When it was turned on though....
You definitely feel the torque in a way the V8 can't compete with. And it feels a lot more involving than my R8. I never went above fourth gear - it just felt right there for cruising around and lower gears for noise!

I would see about getting the rear view camera fitted if you can. Made a massive difference to me when reversing
That's interesting actually. I found the V8 Vantage quite good for visibility - far better than my R8 - especially if you take off the hatchback cover over the boot. Any recommended garages to get it fitted, I assume it would be pretty expensive at Grange?IanV12VR said:
Congratulations - this has been a great thread to read!
Hehe, thanks! It's amazing how the thread evolved from getting a DBS or V12VS to then maybe a V12V and then DEFINITELY wanting one after missing out so many times on the test drive. It was meant to be.After 8 pages and over a hundred posts I've finally reached the end. Looking forward to being part of the community here and meeting people in person with their Astons.

Sorry if OT but mblade123 can you point me to more details on this?Just leave your nav screen up and as soon as its in revers the camera kicks in.
Made life so much easier. They are pain to reverse and the sensors kick in far to early for me
