£89k for a 2009 model and that's from a non official dealer?!
We purchased our DB9V from McGurks. Substantially better presented than the DBS Ultimate we were looking at from the alleged pinnacle authorised AM dealership

Don't get me wrong Nick, I've heard a lot of good things about McGurks. I assume that they would be cheaper than an Aston dealer though, no? Out of curiosity do McGurks throw in a warranty with their cars?

With such a seemingly rare and sought after car why would you need to be?

Yes all cars are warranted AFAIK. That said I paid little attention as I wasn't that bothered knowing John would stand by anything he sold. I do not warrant either of our cars nono

Was I the last one to get one at a decent price??
Could be, although I paid £72k last June for my 2009 model albeit with a dizzying 30k miles on it, so it's nearly scrap ;-)

right. In the end I think Rob learned and decided if you really want a very fast car change marques I think he now has a new RS Porsche.
Very nice!
Interested in this comment as I am thinking of 'BRing' my car. Did something bad happen?

Were Robs problems not more to do with the fact that as he had alterations done to a brand new car AM played awkward when warranty work was required because items had been changed/upgraded.

As he was happy to sing the praises of Bamford rose at Burghley when "Pearl" was on their stand you can only assume that the problem wasn't with BR.

Maybe do a search, but in short, yes.

Not sure how to search...
I would appreciate some help; this could be crucial. Do you have his user name?

Wasnt there another chap who had a load of work done on a custom db9 engine then ended up selling up and buying a Mclaren or am i going mad? Was that the same garage?

Google search usually helps if you type a specific string of words.

Disn't have time to search much but this is a copy and paste from Rob on 4/9/13, doesn't suggest BR are the problem more the fixer of AM problems.

"Supposedly there is to be a meeting to discuss quality control problems on Sept 12 th at Gaydon. I was asked to submit a list. My total came to 13 items all of which would have failed final inspection individually. Most if not all have been resolved by Bamford Rose. Quality Control Final Inspection Plaque! Mine said Vantage SP10 ! It is of course a Vantage S in Stratus White! "

From 5/9/13 the faults with Pearl

Thursday 5th September 2013 quote quote all
Rob's list:

1. Vibration from front wheels at 90 mph. Car returned to H.R.Owen to remedy. I was advised that at P.D.I 70 mph was the maximum speed driven. 2 Attempts to fix.

2. Car pulled badly to left.

3. Offside rear lens had 1 inch scratch inside. Dealer replaced lens.

4. O/Side front wing out of alignment. Required paint.

5. Tailgate out of alignment. 2 attempts to fix.

6. Filler cap jammed shut.

7. Engine cut out twice.

8.Tailgate rattles.

9. Extensive swirls over most of the bodywork ,particularly on the bonnet. Remedy. £500 to electric polish and detail at my expense.

10. Gearbox issue, New Gearbox supplied and fitted.

11. No final inspection plaque under bonnet instead plaque as fitted stated SP10! Car is a Vantage S.

12. N/side rear lens painted trim peeling off. Super Glue employed and repaired by myself.

13. When raising the drivers window the chromed trim lifts up with it. Not yet resolved.

Im sure i read something at some point about legal threats, but this is just stuff ive read, i have no experience of BR myself.

What about the engine project from the other chap? Anyone else recall that?

and yet another one up for sale...

Portland Autos - Carbon Black 2012 V12 manual - £95k
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

so that's 4 currently available on the market.
- Lawton Brook - 2010 White - £89k
- McGurk - 2009 Black - £89k
- Portland Autos - 2012 black - £95k
- Oakwood - 2010 black - £87k

so people must be happy trading in at £80-£83k?

Looks like ive missed the boat on these, i was going to switch when they were circa £70k. Not the first time ive missed trades in cars and im sure it wont be the last! frown

Having said that i think the whole market for classics and modern classics is over cooked, there are signs of the pork market starting to get a bit jittery so we might come off a bit at some point, but thats another debate.

im not attempting to be 'cute' about anything, apologies if it appears so, i read quite a lot of various things on the internet about interests i have, so sometimes get my points cross referenced if you follow me, no axe to grind just trying to remember what ive read to aid the poster above, i also wanted to make clear the difference between personal experience and referencing information read, which i always think is pertinent to make, and is often lost on forums.
