Could you post up the itinerary files, perhaps? Wouldn't mind recycling some of the routes smile

clap It is "Blofelds Lair"

Skied down from there loads of times. It looks skiable from the photos, but you'd presumably run out of snow well before getting down to Murren.

Fantastic trip. I know loads of those roads. I've never yet been to the Gorge du Verdon though and htat hotel looks fabulous.

Some great pics, what was it like threading the Aston through those hairpins, some of those corners must have been sub 20mph?

I am planning on driving down to the supercar show in Monte Carlo in April and want to take the scenic route, although some of those passes I expect will still be closed.

Zod - the hotel has great views but it was a bit "fawlty towers" wink
krisdelta - hairpins are second gear but you don't have to take that route. Route Napoleon is nice and plenty of overtakes. The routes marked with * are nice and alot less narrow wink

Hallo Mike,

What a beautiful trip, even more impressive to us as we know so many roads you did :-))and you were passing quite near to us ;-)
We'll do a trip to the Monte-rally-routes in three weeks.Based around Monaco , so start will be there.

If you would be kind enough to send us your files for your trip, too, as an "inspiration".Many thanks for sharing your impressions with us. A drink on you tonight for sure ;-)

Autoroute the conversion via ITN Conv to preferred format
Yes Google routing can lead to some "interesting" ways from getting A to B.
Check out this one! Apparently it is a valid driving route, but not one I'd recommend in an Aston!

Yeah. Unfortunately I was on my road bike when it stitched me up there. Not having any other routing planned I did it anyway, but do not recommend it on a £6k CF road bike in the cold pcensoredg rain!

Loved the alps trip write-up by the way. It brought some great memories back from when I cycled a lot of that 4 years ago.
Gorge de Verdon and Galibier (different days!) are epic.
Must take the V8V down there one of these years.

Hi,

We're driving to Lake Garda next May. I also would be grateful for more details of your route.
I've PMd you my email address, if that's OK.

This is the St Gotthard pass and is on our route. The A2 from Lucerne to Milan bypasses it these days but we won't be.

That's the "old" St Gotthards pass, often called Tremola it is cobbled wink
The new one goes the other side of the valley through tunnels
