EVO Magazine finally get their hands on a One-77
Discussion
I've said it before and I'll say it again - how on earth did they get away with the same cheapo stalks in the ONE77 as in the rest of the range and why on earth didn't they use it as an opportunity to make custom switchgear (like in the LFA) that would have worked it's way into the rest of the range to absorb the costs ?!?!?
I have no problem with the car not having the latest tech in every respect, particularly some of the latest onboard electronics like head up display, radar cruise, etc because that's not the point of this car
But as with pagani, one of the reasons you are paying veyron/enzo/etc money for a car not nearly as fast, is the tactile perfectionist nature of every single element, whether visible to the customer or not. Surely the stalks which you touch every day are more important to get 'right' than some bolts under the surfact that you never see ???

Jonby,
I completely agree -- it's just staggering. The quality of the interior of my V8V (MY09) is superb -- well worthy of cars far more expensive (such as the DBS) and very far above anything remotely close to its price. EXCEPT... the stalks are terrible! That the stalks haven't been improved on the 1-77 -- and the "regular" lineup by now -- beggars belief. (The seat switches in the Vantage aren't anything to be proud of either, but at least that's been addressed elsewhere in the range.)

And for all you iPad owners there is a link to an excellent Top Gear interactive magazine here http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/top-gear-ipad-a... - Enjoy
Here's a bit of interesting background with a few good pictures to add to that: http://autos.sympatico.ca/features/12996/how-the-a...

That was a while ago, even before the BR mods. I will now need to buy it to see what I said...
Each of the V12 cars has an "I bought one" section, the V12V being from one Mr John Gladman Esq. Transcripted as follows:John Gladman said:
I bought one of these when me old mucka, Stevie Nine Fingers, did a blag on a Post Office in Chingford. He was in a standard-issue bank robber's WRX STi and the rozzers caught 'im up in no time - turns out their 5-series beemer estate was only a bleedin' M-wotchamacallit, with 500 ponies! 'Eez doin' a 6 year stretch at her majesty's pleasure in Chelmsford now.
So I thought to myself, better bleedin' get miself sumink with a bit more poke, know what I mean? And given I ain't got no time for these fancy flappy paddle gearboxes, I went down to see the boys at Grange in Essex and said 'giz us the fasest thing you got, ideally with a hatchback'. And they sold me the Aston. Very bloody nice it is too.
PS - I've got a Scalextric car with my name on it.
There - just saved you $4.50. No need to thank me So I thought to myself, better bleedin' get miself sumink with a bit more poke, know what I mean? The iPad version of Evo 179 has some great video of the One-77 at speed, too. It is simply a fantastic issue of the magazine with so many brilliant stories. Well worth the money and far more interactive than many iPad magazines.
Thanks for the heads up. I've just downloaded it and you're right - at £2.99 it's a great edition to have on an iPad. Thanks.F1 NDW said:
Absolutely brilliant video. That guy was really enjoying his day. I now know there is another Aston I want!
Love Harrys pieces to camera. He's getting better and better at it and the genuine enthusiasm always shows through. Also recognize all the roads featured in and around Snowdon , gods own drivers paradise.
But its a jewel of a thing, beautiful, menacing and the sound is amongst the very best of any car. This or a 1.4m Veyron? No Contest.

Completely agree, for me this is the moment that an e-mag became better than a paper one. The embedded video is a wonderful featurejonby said:

Those stalks, and the seat switches have always been the weak point in the Aston interiors. They have now replaced the seat switches, but we still have those ugly, clunky stalks.Did you notice the air vents, in the One-77 they are the same plastic ones that we get, but surrounded by a complex piece of anodised alu. Nice disguise, but still recognisable

Here are some other interesting angles for the 1-77 engine bay.
Exhaust Manifolds with nice ceramic coating.
Thanks for posting. Those manifolds look very similar to BR's. Guess they would have to, the car couldn't deliver that power with the normal V12 ones that look like they were taken off a JCB Exhaust Manifolds with nice ceramic coating.
