AMOC display at the weekend classic show at Manchesters Event City. I met some very interesting Amoc guys there and sourced a part I've been looking for.
No it wasn't a gearbox, so don't start!
I think that's the first time I've seen a picture of your car with the bonnet down.
Was it a replacement bonnet catch you managed to source?
Not a member yet, but am considering it after this last weekend at Silverstone, I posted some pics here, you can see some of the member cars :

You mean all the pictures posted by the same person on the same day two months ago? Whoever Ockyclarke is they had a busy time back on the 7th of February.
you must not look at the site enough the pictures change a few times a day on a rotating basis. Or perhaps you look at them exactly the same time on a random basis and see the same pictures But, hey, if you like a site that looks like it was done by a 14 year old in their back bedroom and is full of pictures of Fiats, good luck to you.

And it is excruciatingly slow to load the forum. I use Tapatalk to read it because the web interface is so poo. So easy to put right it's ridiculous.
That's an improvement for here, tapatalk.

Disagree.I see it as being designed by an 84 year old, and probably maintained by a 94 year old.
I dislike the splitting of the models into different sub forums too...no real need and it breaks the cohesion of the site. Waiting 3 hours between postings is sooooo irritating.
How am I meant to take anything off topic
On a more serious note, the website is but one facet of AMOC membership and I know a lot of people derive enormous pleasure from the various meetings and events they hold

Well I looked at them last night and got the same pictures as I get when I look at them this morning, none of which have anything to do with Astons, all are dated 7th Feb and are described as 'the latest images'.

Think I understand now. Going into the AMOC homepage I see the same pictures as last night. However, I just go straight into the forum pages logged in as a member and the pictures are different each time. But as Phil says AMOC is far more than just the Internet and it should not sidetrack this thread. But, hey, if you like a site that looks like it was done by a 14 year old in their back bedroom and is full of pictures of Fiats, good luck to you.

I think that the problem AMOC has is that the owners split into two types, there are the traditional owners of the older cars and then there are the newer owners of the more modern cars. The club, through it's social events and networks, works really well for the former. Where the club is less successful is with the latter group, they are still welcome at social events etc., but there would appear to be little the club does that really caters specifically for the owner of a 6 month old Vantage, for example. The online experience is poor and it is mainly that type of owner who is more likely to be looking for that as part, if not the main focus, of their membership.
So I'd say that if you have an old Aston and want to go to social events it's great, if you have a new Aston and want to mix with similar owners it is less so, particularly if you want to do it online.

I think your comments show a very stereotypical view of AMOC - I don't know where you are in the country or when you last attended an event but it does very much depend on your Area. And, before you say it shouldn't I would agree totally. You may have picked up in earlier threads that I am an Area Rep down in the South West - I am also the owner of a four month old V12 Vantage Roadster so do not really fit your profile of an AMOC Member. Under your profiling I wouldn't want to be a Member but I am and enjoy the friends that I have made through the Club. In our Area the problem is getting the older cars out and most events are filled with DB7's and younger.
The Club does recognise the need to change and to bring in younger Members of Gaydon cars and I believe that change has started - but it will take time as the new Chairman, John Goldsmith, drives through his plans.
Hello
I'm a Member of the AMOC. I take part in the racing, go and spectate at the Concours, regularly go to the monthly pub meetings and do a few of the HQ organised social events.
'WhereamI' - when you say the Gaydon owners want something different from the Club, what sort of things should the Club be doing?
3/4's of the Aston parking area at Silverstone on the 6th April were Gaydon cars and this is often the case at most of the events I go to these days.
The Club are very aware, that with so many more Gaydon owners, they may want different things and they are happy to try to provide that but every time we ask what is wanted, we don't get any clear ideas that we can put into place. More than happy to hear your suggestions and can take these back for you.
I had a quick look at the 7th Feb photos on the homepage - noticed they said 7th Feb 2008 but were pictures from the Silverstone meeting on 6th April, suspect the photographer hasn't set the date on his camera!

Well the starting point is to sort out the website. It's a mess and reflects an organisation that is 'off line'.
I can join, but I can't renew online, I can't update my details, I can't do anything much. I can 'get the app' on my iPad but that gives me a hotels app, what's that about?
I've got pictures with no Astons, a jaguar and a fiat and other non Aston stuff, it just basically says that if you live in 2013 the club doesn't want to know. The closest thing to anything useful is the forum but that's a pretty archaic thing, technology wise.
If you live off line in a world of social events and history the club is fine, I go to events and I get value from my membership, but equally it's all rooted I the past and not the present.

I've just joined today and am hoping to get involved with a few centenary events. The DB5 event at the Royal Naval college sounds fantastic! Although I'm on my second Gaydon car, I'm interested in the whole history of the marque, so am hoping to learn loads and meet some interesting people along the way.
I have to say, I find the forum and the site in general a bit of a muddle, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. But the club clearly just isn't about the website, after all, isn't it one of the oldest motoring clubs around....if not the oldest??
Oh, and I'm looking forward to sporting the car emblem soon. Just need my membership to be confirmed in the post so that I can buy one.
