Might be interested in this, it was obvious from the JLC tour I have no idea how to drive the car to its limits.
How much is this likely to cost, what do I need to do about car insurance? If the cost of the day includes track hire, and driver tution (please correct me if I am wrong) do I personally need to get Public Liability Insurance for damage to the track (armco) / damage to A N Other etc.
Sorry I know it sounds boring but running my own business I know all the st I have to deal with and cover re Public Liability Ins etc.
And before anyone replies - I know its easier not to hit anything just being cautious and considering all eventualities

I don't want to put words into James' mouth but I'm expecting the costs for the day to be about £300 - £400. Other organisers run similar days at the Prodrive track for £340 to £365. Plus at least a tank of V Power. If you let the car warm up and warm down properly, then other consumables such as brakes and tyres shouldn't be effected too much.Neil1300R said:

It's up to you, really. I don't think that you will find anybody who is willing to insure you for third party damage. (I suspect that the organisers themselves will have to have a Public Liability Policy as a condition of rental of the track). You can, however, insure your own car (because I doubt very much that you will be covered by your road policy). These people can give you a quote: http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/product... (I happen to have my road policy with them and not because it comes with 5 days of track cover included but because they came up with the best price for me).Sorry I know it sounds boring but running my own business I know all the st I have to deal with and cover re Public Liability Ins etc.

Erm, just don't hit anything. But seriously, the Prodrive track is a pretty safe place, all things considered. It's a converted airfield so there is plenty of run off areas in most of the sections. And don't forget that you will always have an instructor with you so he/she will make you reign it in if things start to get a bit hairy. They want to go home in one piece just as much as you. No axe to grind here but surely if there is financial gain its against the posting rules. Someone (maybe LD?) recently posted a V12V gear (k)nob up for grabs and was asked by a mod 'is it free'Guess them's the rules.... now if all these 'bits' and the tuition is FREE.... hey count me in !!!
