Out of curiosity, what have you driven before?
CK - As far Aston Martins go only ever driven the AM V8 4.3 Roadster and an old DB9, last 3 cars were all Audi A4 Avants 2.5TDI then a 3.0Tdi (with Revo Remap), then S4.Out of curiosity, what have you driven before?
Always had a hankering for the AM V8 Vantage and now am able to. I have now ruled out the Roadster and 4.3 and have seen a couple of 4.7's that I am interested in, but still undecided about manual or sportshift - but making progress!!

I'd say buy the best 4.7 you can find that's within your budget. It's worth it over a 4.3 with (engine & drive train) upgrades because of all the other minor upgrades.
Depending the gearbox it's a matter of taste. I prefer manual, but I'd suggest you try both.
As I live way North of Englandshire it is not that easy to get a test drive without a fair bit of travelling an rarely do I see any kind of AM for sale in or around Aberdeen, although there are lot of AM owners.Depending the gearbox it's a matter of taste. At the start of this thread earlier today I was swaying towards the Sportshift but now having read a lot of great advice I am beginning to change my mind and have not ruled out the manual.
For me it would be the manual and a roadster 4.7 . I had looked at 4.3 's and driven one around the Prodrive track before buying mine.
The 4.7 is much better. I found the SS box a pain in crawling traffic and reverse parking was a nightmare so it's really important to try them both. Roadsters are completely civilised with the hood up and brilliant with it down... The best of both worlds.
Only downer is the size of the boot, but Wifey and I have no problem with taking enough stuff when we go away.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll love it whatever you choose.

All - thanks for all your help and comments. This Saturday I will be flying down to deepest darkest Englandshire (with 11 year old AM daft son) to pick up my '09 V8 Sportshift (with N400 side cills & clear tail lights) then a 9 hour drive North. Thanks again for all the great advice.

Don't forget pictures once you get her home....them's the rules You will enjoy the drive back for sure If you had asked Tony nicely he would have got his butler and security guard to deliver it back for you. When I say deliver it, obviously it would have been loaded into his personal transporter and flown up Oh for a lottery win...
