I saw another new One-77 today that I didn't have in my registry, that's now the 22nd one my eyes have even laid upon. Gotta catch them all right!?

There is no denying the sheer effectiveness of a DSG gearbox, it is the way forward for manufacturers. It is just that it would not be my choice in my personal car. Please bear in mind that we live in the country, very rarely drive in town and all the not inconsiderable miles that we drive are of the pleasure variety.

Adam if you are contemplating a new Golf with DSG bear in mind it will be worth precious little over a manual when you come to change it.

That's why you have a DSG Polo? biggrin

The 6 speed auto in a Mini Cooper S is a fantastic box. It gets left in D around town and given a chance put into manual mode along with pressing the S button when I'm driving it - which isn't often as I get told to stop abusing Aston Annie's car whistle

yes I also have an ASM Vantage NEVER driven in D and a DSG car ALWAYS driven in D hehe
Both suit different situations perfectly (for me any way)
Looking at a Golf GTI, and leaning toward DSG. As my only car (and therefore source of driving "pleasure") sounds like you guys are saying go for the manual...? It would save me a grand that would go straight into the "V8VSR 2014" fund... biggrin
Tough call
I do ~25k a year in my DSG car, it is A LOT more convenient in jams and around town, it does save fuel (its in top gear before you blink!) you can take over at any point by pulling a paddle (which I do on the back roads & over takes wink ) It would also be good practise for an ASM roadster wink

I will buy another flappy paddle beater next year, either an M135i or a Golf R DSG

M135i is vastly over rated imo.

New S3 (which will be pretty much the same as the new Golf R) is awesome. I'd have one tomorrow if I could live with the fuel consumption for 20k miles per year frown

I don't do Audi and I'm not too impressed with VAG build quality in my current car
Had a good crawl over an M135i and was impressed with it
Test drives will sort it AWD in the cold and wet may swing it

I've driven both. M135i doesn't sound as good (just because it's way too quiet inside), gearbox isn't as good and it has too many ratios, looks hideous from outside and the I drive wasn't as good as the nice easy to use Audi system (pretty much same as VW). Didn't feel as quick as the S3 too.

Will there be a change of user name?

Who comes up with these warm comforting car names?
Volkswagen presumably feel, 'blue is the new green'.
Think Mr. Cameron said that too.

Surprisingly Rob got the model designation wrong. It's a Polo Blue GT

Hmmm ... MollyBlueGT - I don't think so

It would seem though that blue is the new green yes

In Gernany, apparently, blue has the same connotations as green does in the UK.

I see. How come you've changed? Not had the GTI that long. I absolutely loved mine (despite all the issues), fantastic little car. If I could manage with a car that size I'd have one again tomorrow!
