Add another one to the list who keeps thinking about a McLaren. I really don't want to let the V12V go, but I can't justify owning both.

Has it got the buttons on the door or just the swipe to open thing? I always find the latter to be a right pain in the arse.
Swipe - just need to get the trick

I have admired the McClaren, rather fancy the volcano orange, funnily enough it's not a colour I would think to choose for an Aston, seems to suit the McClaren.
Bottom line is I would be very reluctant to not own an Aston but AM had better up their game for the new range.
Very strong competition now in terms of performance, fuel economy and styling.

New AM range of cars coming in 2 years time. Plenty of time to enjoy something else before coming back (if Merc has not messed things up....).

The Vanquish is also a fantastic car but it is not hard core enough, the paddle shift is not sporty enough and unfortunately the windows glass is so thick that the driver is the only one not enjoying the absolutely fantastic sound. Shame they dont do a hard core version (I guess that version is called V12VS but i could not bring myself to buy the same car !)

My favorite colour for the 12C was volcano red. Nice deep dark metal shine to it. But as I use the car everyday, I needed a less "in your face" colour ! And as you might have guessed I like blue.......

I'm seriously considering moving to a 12c from my current v12v (must stay British!) so would also be very interested in hearing how you get on...

The 12C is an amazing car... The more you drive it, the more its talent shines through...
In pretty much most areas the 12C is superior to the AM.. Except the noise!! The V12 was sublime..

Coincidentally Autocar asked themselves the same question today and came down in favour of the Aston, albeit a V12VS. http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-ver...

Love the colour scheme on that V12VS - it's the same one as they tested against the 991TT on PH a few weeks back. cloud9

Hi Mb1, your buying my 12C - hopefully it's going to a good home. I very nearly swapped it for a V12S and ended up with an F Type R.....Enjoy the car, it is seriously fast

12C to an F-Type?! That's a massive downgrade isn't it?

Why has it got to be a downgrade if you like the look of the car and fancy trying it?
He will probably get a P1 next.

I bought the Jag because it's fun, the whole downgrade thing becomes meaningless after a while - should you always aim to spend more and more, where do you stop?

Well said. Any logical brain would favour the F-type to the Aston. Its a newer and better car. It also happens to be cheaper. I saw the V12VS Roadster and the Jaguar Project 7 roadster next to each other at Goodwood today and the Aston just looked dated - sadly.

I saw that article a couple of weeks ago, before deciding to make the switch. I am obviously not in agreement ;-P

In line with what Chris says, buying a sportscar is about having fun and the emotions you create while driving it. Does not matter if it is cheaper or more expensive.
The V12V is a truly fantastic car but to me, after 2.5 years, does not feel as special as the 12C. And the 12C is incredibly fast and the chassis is unbelievable. Plus the doors, the whole experience appeals to me like being more exclusive and more fun.

Also, from my perspective, moving from a V12V, spending another 50k on a V12VS does not make any sense. Where spending it on a 12C, sort of !

You'll love the 12C, it's ability to cover ground is truly amazing. I'm not sure I'll ever forget my last drive in it, 120 miles across country at truly wacky speeds. I climbed out of the car elated yet slightly frightened by the flouting of the law....it always reminded me of riding super bikes when I was younger, hugely addictive yet very naughty...Enjoy! It's your turn

I very nearly took the plunge with a gorgeous 12C a few weeks back. Volcano Red with lots of extra carbon. Now sold. Whoever bought it has got themselves a lovely car. Looking forward to your thoughts on how ownership compares to the V12V.

Also in the camp of V12 owner considering a switch to a 12C at some point. Only got the V12 a few months ago and loving the noise and overall feel so trying to be patient. But the 12C made me think of a well finished powerful Lotus Elise, which still to date is the most fun car I've owned, only let down by poor Lotus service. Very keen to hear how you get on.
