Why, Stuart confused

All you've done is say what everyone else on this thread is saying - there is an issue with AM paintwork on some of their cars.....mine included !!

I post up pictures of my paintwork (others do not for some reason) but I balance that with the exceptional service I received from AM and JCT600 in resolving these issues in and out of warranty, at no cost to me. I have many friends who will follow me on to Aston ownership once finances permit.

You haven't ridiculed anyone. You are just stating an opinion, however theatrical you wish....which you are entitled to do smile

yes
I'd suggest by far the best way to get action is keep hassling the dealers and the factory to sort issues
AM will soon come to realise they need to do it properly rather than fix it afterwards
I would also suspect the new investors will have a point of view on this

great contribution that is. Times like this we need a mod that can lock a thread. Not even taking sides on this, as pointed out pages back, the thread is going nowhere.

100% correct. Aston had numerous chances to do the right thing. They blew it everytime. They suk

I advised them subsequently that I was writing to the Sunday Times. That my lawyer would take up the mantle that I would be posting on forums if they didnt make a sensible contribution to THEIR known problem. All ignored. All this of course after numerous attempts to resolve this amicably and professionally

Like this poster when I'm done with my DB9 I will never buy anything again from this shower of crooks and shysters What terrible after market service. What an embarrassment they truly are

Stu, nice to see you here but I'm afraid I can't agree with you on this one. To be fair we do have to credit you with getting Rob & I into this whole AM thing in the first place (credit/blame!! -whats the difference?) and you were an AM owner before us. Yes, Rob had the wing mirror corrosion thing as above but it was dealt with under warranty with no problems and no cost - can't ask fairer than that.

You've got to be joking if you have 'binned the brochure of the Aston you were considering' because some embittered nutcase comes onto the AM PH forum and tries to upset the happy campers because he hasn't had the answers he had hoped for. Since when did every manufacturer manage to keep all their warranty complainants happy?

Meanwhile, back in the real world, it would be really nice if we could all get back to chatting about the random, vaguely Aston Martin related, topics that we usually do. I hope someone is going to agree with me that there is an awful lot more to love about the brand and the privilege of owning said brand than there ever are things AM related to whinge about.
Must be a heck of a lot of nut cases on the forums. Dozens of posts all over them on this topic

Aston suk and idiots need to wake up take off the rosé tinted specs and smell the napalm in the morning.

Again this guy is spot on. Funny how morons pile in on me speaking the truth and REACTING to the abuse I'm taking from Sholes. But never criticise the name callers and downright arrogant pig ignorant ones who really should know better

I don't expect thanks I don't need or care. I do expect reasonable debate and an acceptance this is a wake up call for all the damage this is doing to Astons reputation. Now shredded of course because of their pathetic ridiculous offer of £250 on a. £3000 respray- and a demand for it be done in their workshop which of course they're aren't any in my side of Scotland and in any case its not done at the authorised dealer anyway- they farm it out!

Oh and they'd just add £250 or more to the bill to er, compensate themselves

Aston suk!

Isn't some perspective due here? Most if not all cars have problems, you only have to spend some time on the Porsche forum to realise that with some long running threads about serious engine problems. Far as I can tell the affected models and year still sell despite the issues being common knowledge. Having just got a Porsche into the family an engine mounting went after four month and 1000 miles. My Merc is starting to show signs of rust on the inner wheel arches at 7 years old. My Z4 had a major engine rebuild at 22000 miles ( which I had to pay for), and the roof motor went last year, again a well known fault on them, along with leaking doors. Hundreds of pounds for a design fault, but BMW didnt give a penny. But they still sell ok. Then there is the infamous security issue with later BMW cars being easy to steal via a computer and blank key. BMW didn't admit the problem despite all of the evidence ( they might have put their hands up now?). And sticking with BMW a problem with their 2ltr Diesel engine involving a simple part that gets sucked into the engine requiring an expensive rebuild. And a problem on one of the latest Porsche engines with a 10p rubber washer, causing very expensive repairs. Problems on Range Rovers electrics abound apparently, I know my neighbours was in for weeks and they never sorted it. He ended up swapping it for an Aston and had no trouble, he's onto his third now.

I have no doubt there's more. Yes I agree problems shouldn't happen and I've experienced most of all the known issues on my Vantage. However, AM did put everything right without quibble and I guess for a small niche manufacturer with low volumes it can take longer for faults to emerge and be corrected in the supply chain or design, plus hand assembled means introducing the enemy of all things manufactured - variation.

Plus, although this thread has reached 17 pages ( some of which involved the usual off thread ramblings of the permanently bewildered regulars wink ) but it is still only a very low number of owners. Problems on Internet threads should always be balanced by the fact people are far more inclined to moan than they are to write good things, and usually represent only a very small sample of the cars on the road.

Have I loved my Aston? Yes. Was I disappointed at some of the niggly issues? Yes. Would I buy another? Definately Yes I would, because they are fabulous in so many other ways.

Maybe we need a thread (another one) to balance this one with how many have not had these paint issues?

Hi

This is a BONDING issue! It's a known problem. It's an in to out problem. It aught to be covered. In other words it's a manufacturing defect

I suggest the best action was the one I took. Speak to the dealer. Wait days for a return call. Finally get through to someone else because of no returned call. Explain the problem again. Get told they'll give me £250 ex gracia no liability. Thanks for all your help authorised dealer Reject

Call Aston. Explain problem they reiterate their derisory offer. Advise them I will take further action

Some dealers are indeed more accommodating than others. Some dealers have countrywide monopoly. Absolute power corrupts absolutely eh?

Yup, Officer Outofstepuk reporting for duty.

I would say that complaining about a company's standards, you would be better served by maintaining your own in all parts of the communication.
