The simple answer would be don't have the work done if you don't want to pay it/can't afford it. Stick with your bubbled paint until such a time when you realise you aren't going to get it paid for by someone else.
someone else being the manufacturer and you think im wrong to pursue them do you?George29 said:
I don't think it's wrong to ask for a contribution towards the respray cost, but you've gone about it like a complete tosser. I hope they offer you nothing ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
and you know how Ive gone about it do you? when you have that privileged info do post on here. FYI this is a wake up call to all who intend on pursuing their dream car - if im a tosser for doing that then happy to accept the epithet![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
i hope you get a Gaydon bubble car
FYI
numerous calls to local dealer
assurances from them of return calls-none!
eventually got someone else at the dealership who know and accepted the problem-agreed to talk with Aston, offer of £250.
numerous calls to aston
yes they did return eventually, with again their 'stick it' £250 offer and only if in their grossly inflated paintshop of which there are exactly NONE in the west of scotland, and even their east coast dealer sends it outhouse
letter ignoring problem
follow up letter by my lawyer
insulting reply

Yes, but you spoke to a dealer that you did not buy the car from and the same dealer that you cited in a thread complaining about their servicing charges and asking for alternatives (which I assume you pursued).
Why do you believe that they should now support you in your claim when you don not appear to have supported them?
nope I spoke to the dealer who was servicing the car -AN AUTHORISED ASTON DEALER- who yes Ive spend thousands with and who yes on ONE OCCASION refused to compromise on their extortionate service price-yet they did previously and conspicuously. Why do you believe that they should now support you in your claim when you don not appear to have supported them?

I had the dreaded bubbles on my 09 DB9 and a week before my original warranty ran out the Dealer clocked them round the door handle and keyhole. They applied to AM to get them completely fixed foc so I was obviously relieved.
A few months later, the dreaded paint peeling on my wing mirror stalk appeared. Dealer came, collected car and told me the cost of repair (£400 IIRC) AND did I realise that it was starting to happen (when magnified) on my other stalk. I was gutted, being a few months out of warranty.
Dealer thought it was wrong that I should have to pay so approached AM with a Report and their thoughts. AM agreed, and replaced everything foc despite being out of warranty![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
but ...but...but this is NOT a warranty issue lol lol lolA few months later, the dreaded paint peeling on my wing mirror stalk appeared. I refer you to my previous reply of how you've gone about it the wrong way and hope you get nothing. They offered you £250 when they didnt even need to as its out of warranty. You should have taken it instead of making unreasonable demands. Why should you get it done for free when no one else does? ![rolleyes](/inc/images/rolleyes.gif)
seriously? thats your response ie i should have taken their derisory offer and just go away sonny![rolleyes](/inc/images/rolleyes.gif)
nah, attitudes like that cost us the war lol
why should they pay? er, theres a manufacturing defect perhaps!

Ok, now prove to me that it's a manufacturing defect rather than as a result of the condition you or any previous owners of your car have kept it in.
It's funny you mention their poor attitute... I find that ironic.
can i remind you DOZENS have the same problem-search this and other sites-are we all incorrectly storing our cars lolIt's funny you mention their poor attitute... I find that ironic.
its funny you DONT mention Astons appalling attitude...i find that worrying

Prove to me that you aren't. How do you know a previous owner hasn't washed your car with some acidic cleaner or something like that which has caused it?
How can you prove it was a manufacturing defect? You're citing other cars having it but there are also other cars that have nothing wrong with them whatsoever.
But please, go ahead and take them to court, spend more money than the cost of a respray and then don't get anything out of it. Ill look forward to hearing you whinge on here once that's happened. If you're so confident you're right put your money where your mouth is and do it.

If I had a penny for the nonsense spoken by some apologists on this and other threads I'd have £3000- enough to pay for repair to my Gaydon bubble
Thx for all sensible contributors. You know who you are and commiserations to all who suffer the insouciance of Aston
...who suk incidentally lol

I don't think its stupid or ignorant of them.....they could be looking at 3000 + cars to repair and a 5m repair bill.....they cant afford it and it's not a safety issue so they blank and blag it......I do agree that it's appalling customer service
The reality is that Aston have f
ked up with their paintwork and we have to pay for it.......it's one of the joys of ownership ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
You're right of course. Why should WE all pay for AM suking. LolThe reality is that Aston have f

The bubbles could either be from the paint being damaged on the outside - stone chips / scratches etc - lets not forget the paint on Gaydon Astons is made of cream cheese. Or, its from poor paint preparation at the factory - surfaces not cleaned properly / contaminated at the time of painting. So pain eventually lifts / bubbles.
Yeuch. I hate cream cheese. Aston u suk even more lolGassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
