There are two supercharged 4.3L V8Vs I know of from 6speed. One of them was dynoed at 534 whp, which likely puts brake horsepower into the mid 600s. I don't know of any problems the owner has had, except of course traction issues!
Wow... that's a lot of specific output from that 4.3 even with forced induction! I'll pipe down with my 'most powerful Aston' nonsense then smile

Only most powerful until mine is finished...

I did mean to ask Mike about the cost of a new crank. The 6.5 litre option sounds very interesting as it's changing the bore rather than stroke so it'll rev freely.

Add in DBS 2 variable valve timing and knock sensors and all the other gubbins and mine will be faster.

For about two minutes until you decide you want more!!!

Will you be without a car for the Northern meet then? I would love a passenger ride when all is complete!
I'll have something! Maybe the Aston if the work hasn't started by then, you might just see it with induction/exhaust mods and 520bhp. Still nippy.

Looks like we have a competition for the most powerful Aston. I like it!

Bit of a thread hijack, but should anyone wants their cars detailing while it's at Bamford rose, just let me or mike know.

Why not upgrade them for the same money to something that is 6500cc? So that's what they're doing, 6.5 litres of Aston madness and over 600bhp with the torque commensurate with the capacity increase
coolthumbup Lewis

Look forward to seeing work in progress next week when I'm at Bamford with my puny 4.3 V8 laugh

Thanks Francis, will take you up on that when the final jobs are done - prior to Le Mans.

Interesting... Honestly not fussed about having the most powerful, nice to be first though wink

Yours will be madness if you go with the full package, didn't even know that the knock sensors and VVT were an option yet smile

When it was mentioned about the freer revving engine, that sealed the deal. Will be an interesting drive...

It's a lot cheaper than crashing it to get new panels on it wink

Sounds awsom!!! its got me thinking about what to do under the bonnet now...
Like you I would rather keep my car as opposed to stepping out of it into a V12V or DBS etc, so some serious money (but considerabley less than the V12V option) to increase power...

Spring/summer time me thinks... Look forward to seeing some pics with the new wheels on... What colour are they painting them? or are they being refurbed back to new??
I don't think you can look at a 4.3 to 4.7 conversion and the full Bamford Rose works as being "considerably less" than jumping into a V12V. I think you need to think along the line of the difference between a 911 turbo (V12V) and a 911 GT3 (a Bamford Rose 4.7 conversion). So it's more about what you like to drive and your driving style. The other thing to consider is that the V12V has the best brakes in the business but they are bonkers expensive (about £15k retail for four discs and pads), also the carbon fibre seats, B&O stereo and the marmite stripes bonnet. So bear that in mind in price differentials.

Having said that, if Bamford Rose could offer 511bhp from a V8 - maybe take it to 5.0 litres (hey, Jaguar can do it so it's do-able) then I probably would not have invested in a V12V.

nono

The V600 has 600 lb / ft of torque

Equivalent to 820 nm.

Must try harder Yeti tongue out

Keep up at the back chaps... that was for the 6 litre rebuild. The 6.5 conversion should exceed that for power wink

But torque wise... normally aspirated will never keep up with forced induction, I'd need about 8 litres to get 600ft/lbs! Guess I'll be hoping for 450-475 or so? DB9 has 443ft/lbs and is optimised for torque (versus DBS with 420ft/lbs), mine wll be optimised for power but the original rebuild was going to be torque neutral with the DB9. The 6.5 conversion will give increased torque as a byproduct of the capacity increase.

I'm sorry. That might've been a bit of a mean comment, but it did make me chuckle.

Anyway, I hear having a clean Aston is the in thing at the moment. All the cool kids are doing it.
