Well if I should ever need to go to the supermarket in the Aston, it would be parked in the outer reaches of the car park with nobody parked near it. I'm sure that as usaul when I return there would be cars parked in every bay around it. Why does this happen?
I thought that only happened to me

Sadly, I completely understand why someone would take up two spaces -- my cars have been damaged by astoundingly inconsiderate people too many times over the years. However, I do not take up two spaces, especially if it's near the entrance to whatever place I'm visiting. It's not nice (though not as not nice as cluelessly damaging other people's property), and it's asking for (intentional) trouble. That said, if one parks far away in the lot, in an area where there many available spaces - so one is not inconveniencing anyone else - it shouldn't be a problem. You'll probably still get keyed, though. I always try to find a space at the end of a row, relatively far from the entrance, and park all the way to the side of "my" space so my car is as far as possible from the space next to me. Of course, half the time, I find the genius who pulls in next to me is partly over the line and actually in the same space with me. This is why I rarely park my Aston in busy parking lots in the first place.

I tend to agree. I saw a Bentley Turbo years ago ina supermarket car park. It took two spaces but was right at the other end of the store entrance. TBH, the Bentley was [robably too big for just one space anyway.

General rule of thumb: Park next to cars worth more than yours.

Those wkers are rarer than the wkers who slam their car doors into the side of your car though! It's a calculated risk parking over 2 spaces, but one I find is worthwhile.

My drivers door has a nice dent in it from a Citreon Xantia or whatever it was.

I always park far away from the entrances of shops in the quiet area, and YES, people always WILL park close to your car... WHY~???

Perhaps they think theirs will be safer being close to something more expensive????

Also on the subject of multiple spaces, in Authority controlled Car Parks.. so long as you pay for your spaces you can take as many as you wish,, though do check the board as some exclude parking outside of any bays... But... if you park long ways across bays you are technically still within the bays you have PAID for.

Some boards do state using more bays requires the payment of such use.

This one made me laugh.. the guy moaning about his door is the *CENSORED* as we all know a drivers door that cannot open is an MOT failure, thus making his car illegal to be used on the public highways, including public car parks. :-)

So who's the *CENSORED* now? Also he parked first,, and look at the angle of HIS car... *CENSORED*

Oh talking about MOT's mine failed.. one wiper blade required changing.

Buy a defender and leave the P&J at home. Make sure it's an old one and make sure you park next to the nicest car you can find. Usually on the other side of the car park, straddling two spaces. biggrin

I use mine for popping to the supermarket (if I have to), going into town - it gets parked all over.

If I park in the far end of a carpark, on its own - guaranteed to have someone twunt park right next to it.

Like I had in a pub car park last weekend: Parked on it's own in a corner, some girl, (who appeared to have used nutella to self-tan incidently) had parked less than a foot from my car, despite the 50 empty spaces around. Just sat in her car watching me squeeze between the wing mirrors to get to my door.

Park in the midst of the carpark - safe as houses - it's easy enough to find a space where the drivers doors of the two cars you park between don't open towards you.

Don't park across 2 spaces - it's just selfish and will just confirm what people already think of people who drive flash cars smile

Or a stted up old Jeep....

Last year I squeezed it right up against a moron double space Parker at the hospital.... No fking spaces and this idiot in an RX8 decides he's more important than everyone else and needs 2 placesrolleyes ..
On his drivers side was a small gap and a grass bank, so I put 2 wheels on the bank and parked an inch from his drivers door.....

I got out to a round of applause from a few folk who'd gathered to see what I was up tohehe I took a bow and walked offsmile

I can't agree with it, no matter what the car. When I had a decent car, I did what most others say here, and just parked in a quiet corner and manged to find the huge amount of extra energy required to walk the whole extra 100 metres that it entailed.

I won't lie and sometimes when there wasn't a quiet corner, it crossed my mind, but I couldn't bring myself to be that much of a t***.

One point though, just because the car(s) in question are worth a lot of money doesn't give you the right to do this. Someone may have a Golf that is there pride and joy that they have saved for years to get. It may have cost a lot more relative to their income than a lot of people with exotic cars. Should he be entitled to park like this as well as his car is so precious to him? If everyone who cared about their car did this, you would never get parked up.

i dont think anyone is saying it is exclusive to astons or whatever anyone might decree a nice car but if everyone did then it might make people create more parking spaces of the right size.
i cant park in many spaces and then get out of my car is why i park miles away often

I dont think the brand of car is relevant here, its the mentality of the owner

Ive seen a wide variety of selfishly parked cars over the years, often just from owners of a new mainstream hatchback or saloon that they are particularly precious of...these are even more likely spots in the supermarket car park than a supercar

whatever car you drive, if you think you are special and deserve twice as much room as everyone else, then take it and no doubt you will attract twice as much negative attention

yes, its common sense that you try to park your car in a way that dosent leave it extra vulnerable to damage, but I wouldnt use 2 parking spaces to do it. Id find somewhere else to park, its not that important

Its just a car, and designed to be used as such, If all you do is worry about it when you leave it, buy a cheaper one you can afford not worry about next time wink
