FWIW, I really, really do not like the idea of cars and bikes on track at the same time - assuming any track would even let that happen?

I have never been on a TD with bikes as well, always assumed bikes and cars had their own days.
No idea, it was just the only idea that popped up when I said bikes are faster than cars and Cockers disagreed. Doesn't bother me, I'd actually be more scared to take an Aston round. I presume if you hire the track you can do what you like?

yeshttp://www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk/circuit/

100dB noise limit isn't too bad, I thought they were 95/98dB. Tested at 4500rpm, my valves stay closed until 5krpm... Bit of a blag, but hey ho.

Either of these cats will do; Dennis Retera
Jan Joris Verheul. The benefit is they are used to the same performance enhancing drugs as Lance and Jessica wink

Hahaha they struggled to beat us with an extra 25bhp and however much more torque. Must have really annoyed them not winning a race outright in 2011....unlike us in our LEGAL car :-). And yes before you say they beat us in the championship....well you would hope to beat a legal car if you are cheating!

I used one of your engines at LeMans 2012 Aston Race as you know Mike and I have had never said a bad word to say about your engines, a tuned engine against a standard engine is obviously better :-)

Yes indeed, tuned in this case means to the extent of the SRO Regs and the extent of the enhancing drugs was simply 'a bottle of Lucozade' doesn't everybody do that if seriously competing for P1?

lance on the other hand is a truly dishonourable fellow smile

Guess playing by the rules is now known as making up numbers then ;-). Mathol using Prodrive tuned GT4 engines now after they supplied one of your engines for Prodrive to 'look at', so now they will be legal and to SRO homologation FYI

Guys not to thread hijack but later in the year i'm looking at doing a few marque specific road trips which bring in a track/runway experience with no noise limits so if interested drop me a line, best of luck with you own event also, sounds great fun.

I'm sure Prodrive would want these dealings kept secret James (for obvious red face reasons), but being a partner team you would know better than I what is OK to discuss in public, so I guess its no issue.

So what you are saying is this James;

Privateer engine steals 2012 Aston Martin Global Challenge championship crown from under the nose of factory.

Facotry buys that engine to copy it.

Factory homolagtes the engine as if it were their own creation.

The irony is who they paid to create the engine in the first place smile
Could that really happen....??
Priceless if it did..!

All of us in the know, know that the Aston Martin Global Challenge points is a gimmick and isn't a championship. The factory aren't involved, it's for privateers only. Customers go out and compete and score points from their respective championships for the Aston Martin in house points tally known as the AM Global Challenge. It helps people who aren't that competitive at least feel like they have won something if they enter and finish enough races they will score enough points to finish high up on the global challenge points. Benefits AMR as gets the cars out more and therefore increases the requirement of spares etc. You could win the British GT championship winning every round of which there are 7, but you would still finish behind a team in the global challenge points of a team/driver who has competed in a championship which has more rounds such as VLN with 10 rounds, when the British GT3 championship is much more competitive. Plus helps if your running a tuned engine which nobody else in your class is doing as they don't want to 'cheat', nigh on guaranteed to win your class then ;-)

Back to the engine, I believe AMR wanted to look at a BR engine to know what to look for when stripping people's so called legal engines. Also from what I've heard the AMR homologated tuned engine has more bhp and torque than the BR engine Mathol supplied.....but I've yet to see figures myself.

Brilliant. You should get a job at Ferrari F1 spouting that kind of thing biglaugh

How exactly did this thread turn from us discussing which Bamford Rose modifed car would be quicker round Combe, to Appleby Engineering coming on here and bhing? Just curious.

C'mon guys....you're starting to use words I don't understand, and that's just not cricket.

Get back to organising a great day out - Yeti is right...bikes and cars....never the twain shall meet.

More than happy to donate a coffin if there were to be a raffle on the day smile

Yeti, once again, my name is James not Appleby Engineering!!! I didn't start bhing and haven't been bhing, i have just stated facts! All I offered to sit next to anyone on circuit and help them become better circuit drivers, I am nice like that! Your mate Mike was the one who started b*tching if you want to point fingers haha. It's funny that wherever I write anything in this forum you and Mike seem to chase me round trying to shoot down anything I say or try to cause 'arguments'.

Back to Track day talk pleaseeeeee!

(rant on)
For christ sake James, this forum thread was for arranging a track day, not for you to blurt out crap about who's bks are bigger than who's. I have not even met you and I already don't get a good feeling. You are trying to arrange a day at your place for prospective customers of AMR and you are not doing a good job of making friends. And Mike you should know better than to deliberately mention names of drivers that would get a reaction such as this. nono

It was all light hearted banter until this point

If you come on a public forum accusing people of cheating and not using legal engines and and and and then expect to get badly burned. (rant over)

Having re-read the thread again, it is definately you making all the noise on here about illegal engines.

Had handbrake caliper pads changed this morning. off side rear caliper sliders fused, then snapped, now knackered.

In short I need a new caliper.
Any suggestions anyone please?
Found one on eBay £180...
I have some, best PM me :-)
I apologise for the bhing remark.

My 'mate' Mike... he's more than a mate, he looks after my car, and many others on here. I have to trust him with my life biglaugh

As you say, back to the track day. Bike + cars = too scary yes
Are we set on Combe? Suits me, maybe the northern/Midlands contingent less though..? Some nice places to stay locally though, http://www.manorhouse.co.uk/EXCLUSIVE_HOTELS/the_h... They have a Michelin star, (or did when I was there last) we had a more-than-pleasant annversary there scratchchin
