With the greatest of respect, surely that's just common sense? If you saw a cracked rubber radiator hose, I assume you'd have it replaced?also found this, stipulates bridgestone reccomend tyres over 10 years old are changed, doesnt actually mention cracking as being detrimental to tyre saftey
If they are cracked they need changing - end of story, they are past their best. You will have to make sure the correct combination of tyre codes are used. Tyre manufacturers have had to exclude a certain ingredient for environmental reasons in the last couple of years, which basically means you cannot mix older tyres with newer ones in certain combinations - side to side/axle to axle. Your dealer should know all about this...
This is the response I had from Bridgestone tech department and sounds reasonable to me. Also if you had a blowout on old tyres I guess the insurer would take this into account. Whatever, I wouldn't leave my driveway on those tyres except to have them replaced. That wasn't meant to sound snotty but for your safety.
Hello.
5-6 years is our guideline for replacement.
Kind regards

Wondering if it could be the tyre gel that the local Albanians apply!
You could ask the Albanians to use shoe polish, although they won't like the application time.Has been used for 40 years on the same set of Dunlop racing tyres (my museum car).
No cracking, bubbling, or flaking anywhere yet, (therefore suk or suck free ).

I work in the trade :P Ill be having them done by my own garage at a smidgin of the cost , i was never going to have them fitted by aston unless they supplied them, but being considerably more expensive i sourced them myself.
