Really!

A few years ago, Mercedes-Benz stupidly decided that it would be an excellent idea, to have a combined coolant radiator and gearbox oil cooler.

Their top engineers never thought that the coolant could end up in the gearbox, usually just after the warranty expired. Dummies.
