But if we are talking a budget of around 65k, surely you can compare these two great cars to the Ferrari 360 maybe? DB9? Vanquish? RS4? M6? M5? E92 M3?
All these cars have good and bad points.

Audi RS4
Understated all round great car but ' Its an Audi '
BMW M6.
You would be thinking to yourself ' Why didn't I get the M5??? '.
Aston
Class. More special than a Jag and in my opinion looks better.
But would this discussion exsist if the Jag had an Aston martin badge on it?

the XKR not only looks plastic - it smells plastic too and for the driving experience - hmmm - there i think that my V8 Vantage corners better than the XKR and sounds way better and the all over finish is WAY BETTER!
And for the gearbox: i don't think you can compare an automatic gearbox (XKR) to an automated gearbox (Sportshift in the AM)- not talking about the singing noise of the Supercharger....
But i am honest the XKR would be the second choice after the V8 Vantage
