Mike, will you still have time to do this to my car before next Wednesday? I realise I have left a big pile of work with you and not a lot of time to do it in!

Congrats to PistonHead member MarkW who today took delivery of his beautiful 4.3L Vantage which was in for improvements Bamford Rose style...... More Power.....

Parts supplied were; Bamford Rose exhaust manifolds and catalysts, sports induction system, lightweight flywheel, twinplate clutch and manual switch to control exhaust bypass valve switch.

The exhaust manifolds have been revised slightly from our original kit to deliver optimum torque output which improves driveability from lower engine speeds at lower throttle openings.

The headline improvement of +40BHP is still achieved.

The quality is just fantastic, as can be seen from pictures of parts in their raw form.

No doubt Mark will inform us how he rates the improvements - but i know we hit the spot.... Mark would not accept that we hadn't sneaked a 4.7L engine in his car as he commented the transformation for just an exhaust system was MEGA....!

"Freshly made just for you"......

PistonHead member Vincent took delivery of White Devil / Diablo Blanco recently after conversion to full fat Jessica spec.

The beast, which already had Bamford Rose exhaust manifold and catalyst kit was updated with;
GT4 racing specification engine,
Lightweight flywheel,
twinplate clutch,
big brake kit (380mm discs with 6 pot callipers),
electronic switchable suspension,
manual control exhaust bypass valve switch
N420 style carbon rear difusser.

Above the std 410Nm torque / 380 BHP, freshly made for vincent was this delicious torque curve;

540Nm / 475 BHP - worthy of a celebratory '99 Flake

This is why Bamford Rose prepared engines win racing formula.

Mike,

That's just not nice -- I want to see the pictures, but all I see are question marks in little blue squares!

BTW, any news on the "missing" Vantage development videos?

I thought the Jaguar 5.0l V8 engine was a completely new engine - the Aston V8 is based on the older 4.2 Jag engine. I could be wrong.
You are right. The new Jag block has a different bore spacing, 98mm to 100mm if i recall, so no way to cross use crank etc.

Mike, a question was posted from Hartley on my blog/thread with regard to Volante improvements. Your answers would be better and more technical than my drooling and raving reviews!!

"I love my 2006 manual Volante but the poor ride annoys me . what do you reckon is the minimum I would need to do with BR to create a much better ie more comfortable ride and roughly what sort of budget should I be thinking about to do it ? I do worry about stiffening a chassis and then having the car bounce all over the place when it hits a bump because it is too stiff -that's why I never bought an M3 Convertible"

Hi Hartley.

The Volante we have applied our special attention to (Giant Elise - Mr Yeti) has taken the full package of; rear anti roll bar and drop link bushes, increased chassis stiffness via shear plates / under-surface trays, electronic switchable suspension with ride height adjustment and BR Geo settings.

The car is transformed, a go-cart on rails when that style is wanted, but comfortable GT cruiser when the OH is in the passenger seat smile

For spirited driving, stiff, dart like yet predictable, assuring and rewarding, and at the flick of a switch soft and bouncy - normal car.

However, suspension aside, and even in soft and bouncy mode, the chassis stiffening does not transform the car into the condition you wish to avoid. The car is soft and bouncy but without the Volante 'wobble'.

So, if you didn't want to go for the 'Yeti full monty' then roll bar, drop link bushes and shear plates upgrade would be a massive transformation. If driving the car the condition you are cautious of exists, we can always retro fit back to original, and that wont cost a bean to find out should that happen......

Thanks - Can you send me details of the sort of budget needed for the Yeti treatment ? I suspect it will be more than I would want to pay to sort a poor damping set up so wonder if you think there is a half way house to make the car more comfortable and able to soak up the bumps without me feeling everything ?

I have a question which I'm hoping you'll be able to help with Mike

I have a Vantage S which we know will only bring in tehe extra 10bhp with higher octane fuel

As higher octane is not avilable everywhere, or at least not the 98 (or is it 99) that is needed to trigger the extra last bit of power, what happens if you have say 97 RON fuel, your tank goes down to say 1/4 full, then you put in 99 or 100RON ? Another words, does every last drop need to be at the higher octane, or does it 'average out'

Because I often cannot find the higher octane, I am constantly mixing & matching & wonder what effect this has ?

Realistically, if you only put in a lower octane once in a blue moon, there will always be some in there even 5 fills later

While on this subject I was lead to believe that my V12V will not benefit at all from using higher octane fuel, is that correct? So is the improved performance of the V8S via hi RON fuel unique to the V8S?

No it is due to the N400 intake system
ALL the V8's benefit from using 98RON
