What is the speed limit on British B roads these days?
It varies. The basic "National speed limit" for a single-carriageway road outside of a built-up area is 60 mph (96 kph), but huge numbers of them now have posted limits of 50 mph (80 kph) or even 40 mph (64 kph) - at least where I live in the Midlands.

Dual-carriageways national limit is 70 mph (112 kph)
Same here in the South. All the best roads seem to have a 50, or even 40, limit stick on them. And if you’re unlucky enough to be in Wales…..

Max speed limit in New Zealand is 100km/h, so regardless of B-road or motorway, and they jump on every transgression, so 101 in a 100 zone and you`re probably getting a ticket, and they have cops out prowling the B-roads constantly. Shame, as there are such nice roads. Case in point via link below.
That isn't correct. First off, some roads have 110km/h limits and the new National Government is planning to introduce more plus raise some of the limits lowered by the previous government.

There is also an unwritten rule that the police generally turn a blind eye on anything up to speed limit plus 10km/h so everyone tends to do that, even around town. That was even stated on their website when I moved here 20 years ago! On public holidays they lower the tolerance though.

I have traveled many of the roads in the South Island with my high end car and coffee club and we generally cruise at around the 130 km/h mark with a few periods significantly exceeding that. You just have to know where and when it is safe to do it!

Dropped my V8V off at Martins Aston Services near Glasgow last week for some upgrades and future proofing, including new suspension, twin plate clutch, subframe refurb, discs and pads all round.
Popped in today to see how things were progressing and for an update from Peter, Alan and Chris. As always, I was made to feel very welcome and the team at Martins gave me a full tour and detailed rundown on progress to date.
Despite the car being 17 years old I was really surprised at how good/clean my car is underneath although there is some surface rust on the subframe which justifies why the refurb is worth doing with all the other work that is being done.
Great progress already so I’m really looking forward to getting the car back.
They are very welcoming and helpful. Looks a bit different to last time I was there …looks like all the lifts have arrived 😊

Yes, they are getting properly sorted out now and I think my car is one of the first on one of their lifts for major surgery.
Great team and I wish them all the best in their new premises.

Took the Vantage on its first decent road trip. Up into Scotland (from just north of Birmingham). About 900 miles over two days (it would have been longer, but it's my wedding anniversary today, so I thought better of asking for an extension. Overnight stop near Loch Awe and then on to a couple of other photo opportunities (more to follow, including the obligatory cheesy one from the road to Loch Etive....) The idea was to take loads of photos, but I just ended up doing lots of driving on some glorious roads, weaving through epic scenery, with very little traffic.

Still wading through all the photos and GoPro footage, but I'll post more up later.

Teaser for now...

Francis (aka Paddy) came and washed it yesterday but he had to do my wife’s car first so by the time he had finished it was dark so I couldn’t admire it until this morning. Minotaur Green pops when it is clean and the sun shines !

Looking so shiny, WLD.
You must be very pleased with the work.

Do you know whether Francis only does his detailing work when vehicles are inside a garage, or is outside working a possibility?

He did mine outside. Used a gazebo to apply a ceramic coat about 18 months ago due to the rain

It shouldn’t have taken half an hour to perfect, but my OCD can now be calm. There’s a ±0.5psi tolerance between my tyre pressure gauge and the car’s.

It’s amazing my better half tolerates me!

Something else for your OCD to check.
When you took that photo, was the sun shining on the left side of your car?
Hotter that side by 1°C.

Perhaps OCDers should form a group.

Imagine the UK being run by people who actually paid close attention to detail.
A combination of OCD and common sense, would improve many aspects of life.
The widespread, sloppy, cannot be bothered approach, is awful (EG. potholed roads. Even those that are repaired, usually turn out to be inadequate fixes).

Just think about the 20 years, of so many people trying to cover up and deny blame for the Sub-postmasters (and mistresses) tragedy.
At the very first hint of a problem, it was so obvious to any OCD/Common Sense person, that 900 operators of sub-Post Offices do not all suddenly become thieves at the same time. That would be such an implausible conclusion, when so many had previously been hard working honest people, right up to that moment.
Think how much grief and cost would have been saved. Instead, a bunch of fools decided that such a sudden outbreak of dishonesty should be completely disregarded. To make it even worse, many would have known such a conclusion was ridiculous, but decided to play games and in the case of lawyers, monetary reward possibly influenced.

Today, after a hugely enjoyable couple of days driving around a small part of Scotland, (during which it hit 68,000 miles), I cleaned the car and discovered the aftermath….

The rear arches were already badly stone-chipped (previous owner removed the PPF), but now it’s a fair bit worse:

And a couple of new chips on the front end:

But most annoyingly, some utter wker has caught the front bumper with something like a pushbike and gone right through the paint:

Looks like the planned paintwork may need to be brought forward…..
