Oh yeah, of course, I can totally believe that you would squeeze your Aston into a single spot between two minivans if faced with the request from the wife to make a quick stop at the store whilst out en route. And if you did, you'd look like the cock trying to actually open your doors wide enough for you and her to get out of the vehicle,....

The only exotic owners who wouldn't consider parking like this if needs be are the ones that have someone else to go to the store for them.......

FF
I have, and do, park every car I've had at the supermarket (and on the road, in NCPs etc) on various occasions without parking like a selfish twunt.

I'm surprised those who feel the need to park this way ever use their cars with all the nasty things the peasants can do to their pride and joy. (My guess is that most who park this way rarely do use them).

There's no excuse for such behaviour, especially from those privileged enough to be able to afford such cars.

There are some ignorant people out there....

I was parked outside a store the other day, my wife ran in to get some bits and bobs and i sat in my car listening to some music. I was parked in a bay between 2 oher cars.
The owner of the car parked next to me, came back, opened their door into mine with a thud, (enought to mark my car) looked at me as though it was my fault for being there, didnt say sorry, just gave me a disgusted look and got in and drove off!!!?

I have had similar episodes before but this was the most 'in your face' act of pure ignorance i have experienced for a while. I now have a nice dint in my door where the door protector on thier car dinted the middle of my door panel!

Im not sure if its me that is getting old and miserable, but i find fewer people have decent manners and respect for anything these days. I find this at work, in town, in general.

Exact same thing happened to me 10 days ago. Luckily I was in the Disco and no damage. When I challenged the "bimbo" she couldn't get her head round the fact she had done something wrong.

I have had a lot of cars of all sizes and values and find the straddling absolutely selfish and boorish behaviour. If you are so obsessive about your car,buy a banger for shopping.
Personally I park anything I am driving at a reasonably protected spot if its available ,avoid cars that show a lot of dents or very long doors, and that's adequate.
Had my current GT3RS rubbed on the front corner but luckily it was only the clear bra that took the damage.
Its a public car park and there is no excuse for someone believing that ownership of a more expensive car conveys special privileges.

If the cap fits fella.

Still, now you're living in the US we won't have to put up with your parking habits. Win win.

Well, fortunately they are quite well appreciated and necessary over here! Check out this from the 6Speedonline 991 forum. Obviously what happens when you don't take the full two space allocation!

As I said earlier in this thread, I understand wanting to take two spots, but never do. Sadly, though, the utter cluelessness and carelessness of people is staggering. Recently, while sitting in my wife's car parked at the supermarket (wife was shopping) in the end space next to the curb (should be fairly safe, right???) a woman pushed her shopping cart over on the sidewalk near my car, took her bags out of her shopping cart, and began to walk away (rather than putting the cart behind the rail that was there for that purpose -- and was at most 3 feet away). Well, the sidewalk had a gentle slope... The instant she let go of the cart it began cruising directly toward my car. She was clearly aware of this, but did she stop it? Of course not. I jumped out and ran around the front to try to stop it before it crashed into the side of the car. I didn't get there in time, but, just by pure luck, the cart hit a signpost next to my car and stopped. So no damage, but it still amazes me that people do these things.

that is pretty unreal if she knew. i just think there is a culture now where people dont respect much at all least of all cars and frequently just open a car door until it hits the one next to it.
in spain and italy no one ever uses a hand brake when you park. you are asking for trouble. the reason why is people just drive forward until they hit the one in front then reverse until they hit the one behind and then consider themselves parked. if you leave your hand brake on then expect damage.
i park in two spaces but only a long way from anyone. i dont see that as inconsiderate myself. maybe some here do but i would be past caring.
my day car i cant park in a standard spot and still get out. not good for me, not good for anyone near. i just become one of those door bashers referred to. i want others to respect my property so in turn i do the same.

After reading this thread the other night, and feeling a little bit guilty for sometimes parking in two spaces, yesterday morning when I parked in Stansted overnight, i chose long stay at the furthest point from the entrance, at the end of a row, as close to the hedge as possible so I could park in one space thereby not offending anyone with a view on this matter.

I came back this morning to find that this considerate person had parked next to me.

Note the gaping emptiness on the other side.

They parked so close and wonky that not only could I not open the door properly to get in, I also had to do an amusing Austin powers style three hundred point turn to get out of the space because I couldn't swing the front round on the way back.

I will now revert to guilt free parking across two spaces.

Maybe it's just me, but looking at that photo, I can't see what the Mazda has done wrongconfused.. Ok he may not be 100% straight on, but he's well within his bay....

Can't see the problem....

I agree, apart from the owner of the Mazda being a stupid tt. They must have spent a considerable amount of time making sure that they found somewhere to park so close to someone else.

Good call.

Indeed - not sure the mazda parking would warrant inclusion in sMurph's 'twunt list' smile

Do the doors of the Vantage make it particularly difficult to get out? I know they kind of swing upwards a bit (swan?) The doors on my bmw 3 series coupe are long so can be tricky in general carparks but I manage. How ever that can't be said for others - I have 3 dings on my car, suspiciously look like the rear door has hit it. Kids and grannies I imagine.
