I am looking for a suggestion. I am taking a German friend of mine for a factory tour to Gaydon on Tuesday and am looking for a nice place to go for lunch afterwards in the area between Gaydon and the M40/M4 corridor back to London - any ideas?

Thank you.

Halford Bridge (about 1 mile away from Bamford Rose). Don't be tempted to go that extra mile though nono it becomes very expensive yes.

Only kidding, it may be worth a visit there also, very impressive new workshop and some nice cars there being doctored. Mine is there next week wink

As you know, I live in the next village from gaydon, so I'm probably best placed to help out. The malt shovel is ok, but I wouldn't go there out of choice, the butchers arms isn't really a pub as such, but the food is good. Halford is the wrong direction. So my suggestion would be the antelope in lighthorne (turn left out of the factory and then left again about 3 miles up the road). Or if you carry on down that road another 5 mins, you have bishops tachbrook and the pub called the leopard is worth a look.

If I think of anywhere else, I'll drop you a text. When exactly are you heading up?

The Inn at Farnborough is good and is 10 minutes from the Banbury junction on the M40.

It's funny, I've just text Christian telling him to try the new inn at farnborough. For some reason, it escaped my mind. They even have racing pictures on the walls!

Can I ask how you arrange a factory tour at Gaydon?
In 2002 I was in Newport Pagnall visiting and enquired about a tour at the old factory, but was politely told that I would have to order a new car.
Hope this policy has changed now?

Go talk to a dealer about buying a car, doesn't have to be new.

I arranged directly with the factory. You don't need to go on a dealer day or via a dealer. Lynne Stewart was the very nice lady that organises these things wink
