I didn't find Admiral multicar competitive for my three cars at all. Currently I have all three (Ibiza, XF, DB9) with Aviva on a multi car policy and will be going else where this month as its cheaper to have seperate insurance. To me these multi car schemes are a way of making you think your getting a good deal when in fact you are paying more frown.

the more vehicles you have the cheaper it gets ...for 3 vehicles its a bit cheaper and hassle save for me, but then when you add vehicle 4 and 5 for £75 each for the year its much better

when I added a Range Rover to mine for last 6 months it cost me £75 ...but of course youve paid for3 vehicles already and the mileage driven didnt go up, so its just a bit more risk on the fleet value for theft and admin cost

I have Elephant separate policies on 4 cars, having switched from Admiral multi. Every renewal the conversation is "I can see from your quote you qualify for a multicar policy discount".

Essentially you get a substantial discount in year one, year two they claw it back when they know most people won't get 3 or 4 separate quotes to compare.

They also ramp up individual policies in a similar manner, but will discount to match when you catch them speeding.

Oh and if you do have an accident make sure you've got all the paperwork and not slipped up on any details. Some shocking reasons for not paying, usually delayed speeding point disclosure. I have friends who lost almost half the value of their car when it was stolen due to undeclared speeding points.

But by far the cheapest insurance for me.

This is a very interesting point.......do you have to tell you insurers as soon as you receive the points or at renewal?

Michael it's a "material fact" so I would advise to tell them immediately yes

I ended up taking a policy with Locktons for £798 (5k miles restriction) without using a ncd. This allowed me to keep the ncd on the 4x4. It's more expensive than some of the other numbers I'm seeing but it's still cheaper than my previous policy where I was paying £960 for the v8v WITH ncd. I get build up a 2nd ncd now for the future which should be handy.
