I am in the process of performing the three year service for my 2009 Vantage, Oil Change, Air Filters, etc. However, one of the items on the check list is to check the sports shift level, I have pulled the rear cover and cleaned the outside of the reservoir before removing the cap, my fluid is about 1" from the top (cold), but what is the proper level?

Does anyone have a tip on how to release the clamp on the AirBox? I believe it is the same clamp on the DB9/DBS. I ended up slide the inner part of the clamp to the side of the outer so the teeth would release, certainly there is a better way.

Jack, I would suggest that you go to the Aston Martin Technical web site, pay your £70 and download workshop manual and plenty more useful information.
You obviously will have already saved yourself more than the cost of the access fee by doing things yourself. But if you are going to do things yourself
you need to know what you are doing.

If the clip is plastic it looks as if you just need to force the jaws open for the ratchet to release. The way you have done it sounds ok.

sliding each jaw sideways to unlock that style of clip is correct procedure. Nip together to re install but replace with new is preferential as they get brittle with time!

F1 NDM, I purchased the shop manual some time ago and as good as it is, sometimes it omits certain procedures. I searched the shop manual and have not been able to find a statement or picture explaining the fluid level, it maybe there but I can not find it.

David W, Thanks for the info. I will replace the clips on my next Air Filter service.

Jack, I have a Vanquish so not the same beast. After all the pressure has drained from the system my lower reservoir is full to about 1" below the top. If I then put the power back on and the pressure pump re pressurises the system the level can drop right down towards the bottom of the bottle. It sounds to me as if your system is ok.
