So the glass dropped out of the drivers side mirror on the way to the office this morning ! Not a great day for it to happen with all this fog about.

Called the nearest dealer (Lancaster, Reading) to see if they can replace whilst i am here.

Service have sent an email out to the Jardine group to see if one of their dealerships has the glass part in stock.

Your guesses for the price fitted if they get gold of the new glass ?

I have no idea...so I'll guess at £50 or so fitted.

Also asked to see if they could get me a new "back" & "read" button for the Sat Nav - both these are no longer clear.
I wonder how much they will be ?

Cheers,
Nick

I'll guess £250 fitted for the glass.

For the back and read button I'll guess - they are not available individually - please give us £1500 to replace the whole button set.

Hope I'm wrong though

I remember some years ago when I had my DB7 i6 and the glass fell out......Aston wanted a million pounds to replace it but somebody on this site advised me it was from a Citroen who charged me £13 + VAT

Just got the quote.....

£55 + vat for the glass and a 2 day wait for the part.

I wonder how much they will charge for the fitting ?

Thanks Michael. The mirror just fell out as i was driving to work this morning, so i guess it clips in - and the clip may have broken ?

Now searching online for an alternative ( and cheaper) supplier who can post the part to me today. I can't wait until Monday for the part to arrive here in Reading.

I just had a search around and it appears that the V8V mirror is a Volvo V70 part from 2005/6..

Halfords probably sell a glass replacement, but they may not have the assembly frame on the back.
May need to go to EuroCarParts or Volvo for this.
There are a couple of car spares places (ECP and another) just off Molly Millars Lane in Wokingham.
Also an ECP in Reading, I think..

Actually, I'm pretty sure the glass is just held in by a sticky pad on the back.
If the frame is still in place, you may just need the replacement glass.
You should be able to tell if the pad has come unstuck.

Simon,

Just been out to check the car mirror, the back is still there (like a dull faded mirror), so looks like i just need the new glass piece with the sticky pad.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll try ECP in Wokingham and also maybe ebay for the Volvo V70 part from 2005/6.

Regards,
Nick

You mentioned in the OP that you are looking to get a couple of buttons changed... I have something similar and have an agreement with my dealer that the BACK button is to be replaced. I have also read that it's a complete item rather than just a quick fix (PistonHeads). However, my dealer tells me that it's a quick fix and they will send an engineer out to do it. Obviously I will let you know how I get on... if it materialises... but wondered what your dealer said to your question.

I wondered if I am being hoodwinked as the 'engineer' is taking time to visit...

Thanks

Just to close this topic out , glass ordered from HWM and was fitted by Chicane Classics (close to home).
2 minute job (it just clips in to the housing), £55 plus vat for the part.

I didn't get any reply from Aston in Reading about the replacement back/read buttons for the Sat Nav.

Will ask at HWM in the next few days....the roof has failed again today and the Extended Warranty engineer has just left, he managed to secure the roof again manually, but diagnostics wouldn't reset the system and touching the buitton just sets a contiuous alarm going off "Roof Fail".

Call to HWM in the morning again.....The roof module was replaced in June 2012 and a further problem was fixed (intermittent failure opening / closing roof) in Jan 2014. This looks to be another complete failure.

I have the answer! Like the previous guy, the mirror on my V8 Vantage fell out of the driver's side wing mirror. I shopped around and discovered that you can get an exact match from a Volvo V70 (2003-2006). Make sure you get a flat mirror rather than convex. I paid £5.12p from Less4Parts in Redruth (Cornwall). It arrived the day after I ordered it (complete with adhesive pads). Done!
Just so you know, the mirror is simply stuck onto a flat plate. There are no clips, wires or anything else.
