What a palaver! I'd propose a chat with Chilton Aston, find out realistically what your options might be and ROM costs/values of repair or dismantling. There are one or two other DB7 owners on here, so if you can it might be worth editing your title to refer to DB7, to invite their view. There are also some out there who have restored flood damaged AMs, so anything is possible...
DB4DM thank you - Chiltern had no interest in talking about options/costs etc whatsoever! They turned their noses up and I could almost hear them sniffing. OTOH they were very good about digging through their records to try to find some paperwork on the history of the car. Didn't find much, but they did try. Good idea about the DB7 label - I'll try that :-)

I have to say, that all looks very doable. Windscreen can be claimed on the insurance for glass cover. Wings will bolt back on and can then be sprayed. Similar with the bumper.

If I didn't have a full garage I'd happily take it on as a project.

I think it looks a lot worse than it is, you just need a sympathetic garage to help out.

Where are you based ?

Edit - why not try the Car SOS boys ? They love a good story !

Thanks JohnyCJ - sorry no insurance was in place! (as mentioned - overtrusted the Perp). Who are the Car SOS boys??

I have no real advice, apart maybe from selling this story to Netflix and with the rights' money do a complete restoration! biggrin

As a serious note, what a story, again, good luck to you.
EVR thank you! Maybe with the car restored as itself??

I meant when the car is back on the road and insured. As far as I know they don't ask when the damage occurred.

What an awful story.

Sorry, just for my understanding, is ‘The Perp’ the dealer who took the car under a brokerage contract or the buyer?

Or was there no 'buyer' and the dealer made it all up?
Agent57 (if that is indeed your name ...) 'The Perp' is the dealer under the brokerage contract. As to was there really a buyer? this is an answer no-one has managed to establish - we'll probably never know. We do know The Perp sold someone else's car and pocketed the cash - and is being charged in criminal court for this. Unfortunately they couldn't work up a good enough case against him to charge him on my behalf :-( BUT it does feel better he'll get a slapping for something!
Hi Morgana. Yes, my parents (Mr and Mrs 57) decided to call me Agent for some reason. smile

No wonder criminal justice is in a poor state if The police couldn't make a case of theft or fraud against the dealer. Sounds like a real tale of woe at every stage.

Would be great to see on Car SOS. Tell them you've been suffering from stress and depression. That should swing it.

I think he'd need to get someone to apply on his behalf and look all surprised at the outcome !

Hi Simpo - sorry yes - I don't know if he's working for a dealership right now as he did a runner and only recently surfaced ... and I'd rather not give his name. Sorry!

You can tell me. I have an issue at the moment and I was just interested to see if it was the same person. Sometimes info is more useful shared. 'Strength through unity' etc.

laugh No doubt - but there's a court case pending and I'd prefer to let that run without me sharing his name with anyone biggrin

Have any of the worthies on here had any experience of acquiring or passing on a vehicle in this sort of condition? I hear all sorts of horror stories about nasty people coming round and being ... well ... nasty . If you had a vehicle like this and wanted to get shot of it what would you do? Or looking at it the other way - if you wanted to find a 'project' that's doable but not too too easy - where would you go to look for one?

You could try https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic/selling-yo... . Their fees are fairly low, plus unlike an ebay auction, you wouldn't have the risk of having to deal with any nasty people. There are videos of their past auctions on their YouTube channel (and live ones too) and they do sell a number of non-runners.

If you used them, or any other auction service, you'd need to think about setting a reserve. At ACA, it seems that where they quote a range of estimates for the lot, it means that the lot has a reserve and this seems to be set at the lower estimate.
