Hi all. Can anyone help with an intermittent ignition issue I am experiencing on my MY09 DB9. Symptoms are that occasionally I insert the key with foot on brake ... ignition bezel lights up white (and all gauges wind up normally), but does not turn red - so I can't start the car. Repeatedly inserting the key (or swapping keys) eventually gets the car started.

I am the second owner, and when I look back through the service history this issue has been looked at by Aston technicians in the past. Brake pedal switch has been checked, and recently I had the key replaced (under warranty!) but issue is still there. I am also using the approved ECU insertion method..gotta love Astons

Has anyone else experienced (and solved) this issue?

ps. As a new owner, thanks very much to this forum for invaluable advice. Grant's book helped me buy the right car, satnav has been upgraded courtesy of the Volvo disks, CTEK battery conditioner now keeps battery healthy, and fuse 22 is next on my list.

I had a recent query with mine about starting. You can either push the ecu straight in all the way and it should start but if using the method to wait for the bezel to turn red it has to be flat finger i.e.just flush with the dash. It is tricky.

Hi tonyhall38, yes I use the 2 flat finger method. On thinking about the circumstances in which this occurs, it might happen more when car is warm..I seem to have the issue more after I have driven somewhere and I need the car to start again soon after. I will pay more attention when the issue occurs over the coming days and see if there are more clues.

PS..Aston service manager used the "push it all in at once method" and he was able to replicate issue also (which is how I got a new ECU)

Is it also possible that either the brake is not depressed far enough or the switch that tells the ignition that the brakes are being depressed is faulty?
