There should be an option to "buy the colour you like in the first place"
Of course that isn't always an option. Suppose you find the ideal car and everything is perfect except for it is in a very unpopular color. Wrapping may allow you to buy the car at a substantial discount and change the color after the sale. Also, wrapping allows you to get the feeling like you're getting a new/different car without the additional expense/depreciation. Sort of like getting your wife to change her hair color (or wear a wig) so you can be with a "different" woman without the pesky divorce or alimony costs. To be honest... The 2 things when choosing a (special) car, I would never compromise on are the colour, and the interior colour...
If a car was absolutely perfect in everyway, and at a giveaway price, but was in a colour I didn't like, then its not for me...
If its just an old banger for running around it doesn't matter, but for that once in a lifetime special purchase, it has to be what I like..

I bet if this poll was on 6speed which has a higher percentage of us Americans, the results would be quite different. Ironic really, when you consider the color-change vinyl industry pretty much started in Europe and is only recently catching on here in the states.
Well that's because 95% of posts on there are "look at my new 27" chrome tasteless wheels" etc.George29 said:

Actually, 6speed's Aston forum has a much higher percentage of serious technical topics than Pistonheads. We have two actual Aston techs who actively participate in discussions and help resolve car issues. If you have a problem with your car, you are much more likely to get a useful answer there whereas here your question will get lost in a sea of off-topic drivel within minutes. KarlFranz said:

Karl it looks to me like a mainly North American forum. We all know the yanks don't do subtle humour so what else have they got to chat about other than the facts!F1 NDW said:

They really don't get UK humour and at times take offence. Unless it has a drum roll followed by a clash of symbols they don't laugh
Thought you might like to know we had 8ins of snow last night and up to another 3 feet looks likely over next day or so. Completely off topic but you do have to wrap up well as very cold so there is a wrap theme I suppose.

"Two nations divided by a common language".There is no question that you don't get the depth out of wrap vinyl that you do out of paint, however it is a fantastically easy way of serving two purposes.
- you can have a car in the exact colour you want, without having to worry about resale value because underneath it is black/silver/grey, and then if you don't like it you can just change it!
- it will protect the front end from stone chips just as a clear film would, for not dissimilar money.
I have had both of my last 2 cars wrapped in unusual colours and plan to continue doing so.
