Lotus Evora S...
Discussion
Its a supercharged reliable Toyota V6 in a VERY light platform using the same technology as the Aston tub
So there is a lot to like
That said the few peps I know that have had them (common upgrade from an S2000) didn't get on with
Lotus haven't fully shed the "Loads Of Trouble Usually Serious" badge completely either
Interior is a bit low rent and they still suffer the really high sill making getting in & out not easy
Go and try one
You might be one of the few that "get them"

I did that today. I really, really liked the way it drives. Much, much more pointy and planted than the V8V. Although it is heavy for a Lotus, at 1400kg it is a lightweight compared to the 1600kg V8V.I'm trying to work out whether or not I can put up with the cabin 'compromises'.

Lotus have always made great handling cars partly because they are light, problem is that makes the cabin materials feel low rent
Also being mid engined if the rear lets go you really do need to be a driving god to save it, they go so quick!

No need for understated grey any more then.
Very popular Lotus colours are, George Orange, and Lime Green.

Krypton green, Chrome orange and Aubergine purple (colour of my bike) are amongst my favourites. Evora would look good in any of them. As above, no need for dull grey.
I own a bright yellow Opel Speedster (you brits call it vauxhall vx220).
I supercharged it myself, its a completely different experience than a V8V. 850kg and 260hp
The biggest thing is that you really have to accept the lack of luxury, although the evora s is a bit less Spartan perhaps.
Whatever you decide, its a nice luxury problem
Good luck

Im a big Lotus fan, but really want my next car to be open again. If they did an open top Evora maybe
I have driven one around Hethel when they came out. Great handling car like you say. Interior is a bit iffy and ergonomics quirky for me. Not too far off performance wise at all from a V8V, maybe quicker on twisty track
I wouldnt have one *instead* though....Lotus is a 2nd car to me, more track orientated and Vantage more sporty GT to go on holiday in
running costs of Evora apparently not as cheap as you would like either, at least on par (or more) than a Vantage !

Love Lotus having owned an Elise but there is something about the rear wing design that isn't right on the Evora in my opinion. Looks a bit "Jeremy Beadle"...
I agree with that, the back end lets the car down a little. I do keep an eye on them in the sales section though, have to admit I think this one is a stunner -I'm sure Justin220 will chip in with some opinions as to the positives of the car, he's another Evora to V8V member who really misses his.
Here's my old car -

I sent Justin a couple of PM/emails last week (after reading his posts on here and LTF) but I guess that they never got through because I never heard back from him.I have had my Evora (non S) for two and a half years, and can't recommend them enough.
Great, great drive - really focussed and sticky when you want to be a bit of a loon, and like a civilised saloon when you don't. I am a bit of a Lotus fan having had an Elise for four years so I don't think the interior is too low rent, but not as plush as my previous Maserati so same I reckon if you came from an Aston.
Running costs are cheap I think. Servicing is less than £500 from memory, can easily do >32mpg if you want to. The famous Lotus unreliability hasn't been an issue in the six years I have had their cars, I think one breakdown and one broken heater in that time.
I have done 24,000 miles in mine since Nov 2012. The only issues I would see as a daily driver is rear visibility when parking ( I have the sensors and reversing camera) and the getting in and out bit. Wide sills, big doors, low down so you need some room..
Depreciation is glacial after a few years.. Being a poor seller new, due to I assume most people taking the default Porsche option. I don't think I would buy a brand new one but I would reckon mine has lost less than 15% of its value since I bought.
