Locktons/Chubb Car Insurance
Discussion
I recently had to make a claim on my car insurance company Locktons/Chubb and unfortunately found the whole process of claiming incredibly painful. I would of expected more from this so-called reputable company (As recommended by AMOC), but from start to finish it was a comedy of errors and me having to constantly chase the claim. I just wondered how many others are insured through Locktons and had any good/bad experiences with them ?
I am hoping its a one off, but from their internal investigation into the claim, it appears they are happy to make an apology and carry on business as usual....
My insurance is due in September, so I will be looking elsewhere this year, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

Guys,
I've found it impossible to get a proper quotation thats not laughable from Lockton's even though they are the AMOC partner of choice and I try every year.
Last time I was looking at renewal I enquired again as you would expect from an AMOC Club member, I sadly got the same old run around and a ridiculous Quotation……..
After the laughter stopped they did at least get a guy to ring me back who said he was going to look into my quote as they were aware that it was above what was expected.
I thought fine thats encouraging but unfortunately thats the last I heard on that front…….
Anyway I stuck as usual with my long term Insurance partner and received a sensible quotation based on an Aviva Distinct Policy which I believe to be as good as it gets.
In a nut shell try A Plan at High Wycombe for a comparison on 01494 427900,it won't do any harm and based on my long term experiences with them they offer excellent rates
based on premium cover and it all comes with a very professional service.
I have no affiliation to A Plan what so ever other than being a very satisfied customer that lives in rural Lincolnshire and some one that has never had a claim and holds a full and
clean licence, something which appeared alien to Locktons…….
Give A Plan a try, you've nothing to lose other than the cost of at the call.
This all said I'm no insurance guru and appreciate every quote is different and is based on area's and other contributing factors…...

Another vote for Aviva through A-plan here. I had to make a claim when my summer wheels/tyres were stolen whilst in storage over the winter. Aviva covered the loss and A-plan were extremely efficient and easy to deal with. I literally did not have to fill in a single form, either in writing or on-line and the claim was paid in full. Very impressed with the service and very good value quality cover. I am also not affiliated with either party.
Shame you had some bother with them and that they want to fleece Ed My third year with them now at £875 this year to include 6000 miles pa, track day cover should I ever need it (), European breakdown and crucially MY choice of repairer. Gave me full NCB year 1 on an additional new car too. Others are generally much less cover for very little less cash.

Out of interest what does the track day cover cover and crucially how much is the track day excess? Also how many track days are you allowed per year?montecristo said:

After reading our OP's comments, was 'easy to deal with' a claim, or where they just take your money?

Recently I had to deal with LV (not my insurer - the other party was to blame and their insurer was LV) and they were proactive and helpful and everything went smoothly.
Yes, LV have a good reputation, but I don't think they will insure Aston Martin's.

Exactly, you get what you pay for. I don't have any of this with DirectLine for £550. Choice of repairer is key as they once tried to get the right wing painted at a Ford bodyshop in Merthyr! FFS, they never would have returned the car, or if they did it would have had 1000 extra miles on it OK, thanks for info. Is there a limit on 3rd party liability and does the same excess apply? Sorry for so many questions but I'm fascinated by the insurance situation for track days. Am I right in thinking that other drivers can be on the track with no insurance cover (comprehensive or even 3rd party liability)?
Yes, 3rd party limit is ZERO.
You are insured for damage to your own car however it was caused while on track but ZERO cover for anything else.
Yes, when on track you will be surrounded by cars without any cover whatsoever.
If you take one out your insurance does not cover their damage and they have no claim on you in any case.
