Anyone out there looked at changing the map reading lights in an earlier V8V (ours is an 07). I gather the later ones already went to LED light sources, presumably as the filament ones are next to useless. I'm not looking to make it like a russian vodka bar, just make it so you can actually see inside when its dark outside.
I can't even figure out how to get the bulbs out of the current ones and I'm loathed to apply too much encouragment!
Any clues?

Several of us have replaced the interior lighting with LEDs. Makes a big difference.
Ah excellent.
Do you know what type they are (baynet, mini pin, screw etc) and most imprtantly how do you get the light "covers" off to access the lamp?.

2x WLED-x6 (cool white - used for map/cabin ligthing)
2x WLED-WHP (cool white - used for floor footwell lighting)
2x 4210-WHPx (42mm Festoon, 6-LED, white) for Boot area.

Check out this thread:

LED bulbs available here:

To get to the map reading lights, just pull out the plastic black microphone cover between the map lights, undo the screw and then apply slight downward pressure to the pod and it will come free.
When the pod is loose and hanging from the wires, you push the two light fittings through the pod. This will allow you to pull the lenses off and replace the bulbs (make sure that you try the lights before going any further to ensure that polarity is correct).
Refit the pod AND THEN refit the lights. They will simply push through the holes and into place. If you try to install the lights first it is very difficult to get them to remain seated while you fiddle the pod back into place.
Thanks very much for the supplier info etc. I'd spent a little while trailing around looking for the LEDs. Now I might be being stupid, but do you know if they are the 3x6mm wedges, the 9mm wedges or the 10mm ones?

Thanks to all the great replies. Think I might get jiggy with a screwdriver this evening to see whether the 2xSMD wedges will fit!
