Astonauts Sunday Morning Run 16th Dec 2012
Discussion
I thought it best to begin a new thread carried on from here http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Well it seems that enough of us can get out for a run on the 16th Dec to make it worthwhile. Somewhere in the midlands seems to be the most logigal start point given the geographical spread.
The list so far....please feel free to add yourself to it, don't be shy if you havent been before....

I have no preference where we go and am happy to tag along anywhere.
Personally I would prefer a decent drive finishing off somewhere to visit - pub for a drink/lunch? or at one the venues mentioned as those who have a way to travel or don't want to stay all day can get going while the others visit.
I don't know any of the roads around Gaydon or Cosford but if someone knows the area and can recommend somewhere. Alternatively, if we start from Donnington there are some good routes via Ashbourne to Buxton and over the peak district.

It's been a few days and no one else has thrown their hat in the ring so I'll go ahead and sort a route.
My initial thoughts are meet at donington services at 9.30ish which means no one who has already put their name down should have to leave before 7am to get there.
We could then drive (EDIT) ....on a route it's best not to publish........
I'll keep the route off the main roads as much as possible so it should be fairly quiet on a Sunday morning, especially the week before Christmas.
The route is approx 3-4 hours depending on road conditions/weather. There are some nice pubs around donington if anyone wanted to stay for lunch or we could finish with a drink.
So who's still in?

Sorry you can't make it guys would a later start help? Donington is not as far north as you think, only 2 - 2.5 hours from south coast. Dover or Portsmouth take me 3 hours and I'm 40 mins further up the M1. M1/m25 junction is 2 hours for me (unless I hit traffic) so approx 1.5 for you on Sunday.

I had been asking on fb (a 'hidden' hooning page - acessible by invitation only) and have just had someone suggest a route (55miles) from Aylesbury area up to Gaydon. I have a link for it so will hold onto it for use on a similar short informal run out, ending at the Gaydon museum, maybe early part of next year
Put me on the list for that one when you start it. If you are still on from Donington please move yourself up from the maybe list or delete if you aren't

Looks like its Donnington this year and I will do a Gaydon one after Xmas using the route that I have been given (will try and extend it from 55 miles but it will be off a map as I'm in Norfolk so don't blame me if the roads are st )
In other words its Donnington or nowt this side of Xmas - so get your names on Steves list, He has stepped up and put something together !!
There currently is NO Gaydon list - your going to had to wait for that one

A quick geography lesson for the those who believe "The North" begins at Watford and somehow Donington is an unreasonable drive from London. It sits somewhere well south of the centre of England right next to Junction 23a of the M1 motorway and in the centre of where the M42, M6, M69, A50 & A14 Converge. Man up, get in your Aston and join us for a drive. What else can be more exciting/interesting on a Sunday morning than a blast out with other Astons?
