My speedo clock binnacle has developed a crack in the corner which is damm annoying.

My dealer and AM won't help even though i bought the car a month ago so bad luck maybe.

Im looking to source a replacement clock does any one have one spare a big ask maybe?
Also can anyone confirm that the front plastic part can un clip off the clock as that's all i really need,i can source a front but costly and i just need to know that they can un clip before i part with my money.

If they can't part easy enough if i buy a s/h clock what about the mileage this would be in correct.

Thanks for any advice on this.

the clear front of the instrument bezel is very easy to replace few scews and clips.

He's in a better position, because if you check his profile, he's in the glass cutting and supply business....I made the assumption that he may have a contact who could help from his line of work....

As for the dealer not being interested, after only 2 weeks of ownership on a car of that value.... Seems a bit short sighted to me....

Is that explanation ok for you, or do you have any more questions..??
If the cover was glass then i might be able to source it but as it's plastic no im stumped.

Also im assuming all the clocks are the same so any would fit??

I couldn't say if they're all the same or not..... But I'm almost certain that the mileage thing could be an issue...

As my dealer is not going to post here i will try and balance things.

The dealer won't fit S/H parts so a new binnacle from AM £1400+vat+labour.
As i didn't spot the crack before i bought the car i assume it wasn't there. The dealer has no obligation to replace this.
Aston Martin say it's out of warranty.

As a moral obligation with the dealer that's upto them.
And yes i do get my servicing done there and i am going to get the glass buttons replaced later.
Where i go with the dealer from here im not sure but you can guess im pissed off about this but still respect the dealer for there stand on this.

I am in business to and i can see both sides.

Thanks but no i haven't i can't bring myself to spend £360 on a peice of secondhand plastic.
I have managed to get it down to £260 from a seller on ebay but still too much imo so the search continues.
Cheers

You might want to consider £360.00 on a piece of plastic. Compared to the £1,400.00 plus vat plus labour. I think you will find that if you change the whole unit, which (physically) is very easy, only a few screws and it pops right off, and a couple of plugs in the back. The problem is, they are not interchangable as easy as you think.

I was told that the anti-theft device is in the module. If you take it apart (and I have), its not just a piece of plastic with a couple of dials, its stacked full of micro chips. When I discussed this with someone (was discussing OBD writer - not reader - AirBag light), they said that they are not interchangable on the basis that ....... perfect, buy a spare one, do your mileage on the one in the car, change it for servicing and MOT, and then sale the car with really low mileage on and all for the price of a second hand unit.

For Aston dealers its easy, with their Computers, they can change them and reset them, no garage worth their salt would chop and change them for you, and you'd have to have the AM diagnotic equipment to do it yourself. Please don't think it's just a case of re-progamming the keys, the central CPU needs to recognise the speedo module.

So the £500.00 eBay speedo module will need to be reprogrammed before it will work. That means your own original one will NOT be a spare, you will need to get it reprogammed again to use it.

So you see the £360.00 plastic does not look too bad......smile

Perhaps someone cold confirm if what I have been told is correct .......... wink
You are correct I have spoken with Aston about this.
The eBay one on offer the seller has said he will sell the cover only but that's still too expensive.
It looks a easier enough swap when I find one in my price range.

Actually, thinking about it. I bet you could put yours back on ebay and get the same for it. Other people have probably cracked the thing in half by hitting it, I bet they would gag for your tiny tiny damaged one .......... biggrin

That's where I am on this its just noticeable when I'm driving the car as my hand obscures this, been for a drive this afternoon and not noticed it once.
Rather spend money on glass buttons.
As for getting it to look its best I just had it detailed and paint shield at over 1k biggrin

Be nice to see some photos of the car after detailing. Never had a car detailed myself, but from what I have been told, its stunning, better than new, because anyone can polish a car, but detailing is a profession in itself,

Any photos ........?
I notice you have a black car too then you will benefit from a detail as the swirls show up more on dark colours.
You will also notice it will be easier to clean I'm unsure for how long though.
But despite how much care you take on cleaning your car the swirls will return.
I noticed yesterday in the sunlight that paintshield have marked the paint on the bonnet and under the film too redface
I have a picture on my profile,I can notice the red flecks much more now in the paint than before.
I also think its a lottery who you pick for the work I've had this work done twice by two detailers on two of my cars and one is better than the other.

Second hand clock.

Cracked Cover

As you can see clearly that's more than just a crack i could waste my breath and argue my corner but i can't be bothered about it and move on.
However when the time comes for work on the car of any kind i will bring this back up.

Sorry buggered up the pictures.

Karl your wrong about that parting the cover from the cover is a few clips.

Its either intense heat or some kind of chemical i reckon.
