At the end of my cycle across London this morning and as I was crossing Vauxhall bridge, a red car came up behind me and joined the queue of traffic at the lights. I glanced across and from the back thought it was an Alfa but on second glance realised it was the new F Type.

It was good to see the car in the metal at last but I have to say that I thought it lacked any real road presence. I don't know whether it was the colour that just made it blend in or something else but it had no more immediate impact on me than, say, a Honda S2000.

Of course, I might just be a little biased but, on the basis of what I saw this morning, I don't think the F Type can hold a candle to the Vantage when it comes to road presence.

Anybody else seen many out on the roads?

Can't believe this thread has even been started.
Suk - sorry for starting a thread. I was just surprised at the lack of presence the car had on the road and wondered if others thought the same. Just because we are Aston enthusiasts and owners doesn't stop us appreciating other marques.

The F Type went past slowly as is was approaching a queue of cars but there wasn't even a decent exhaust burble to turn my head. That's certainly not true of the many Masers, Ferraris and even 911s that I come across on the daily cycle.

The F Type also seemed much smaller than I had imagined it to be.

Of course I'm sure its a great car to drive even if it does lack presence smile

But what defines road presence?
All I know is that, even on a bicycle, when the F Type passed me I didn't notice it and it took a second look to realise it was the car I had been looking out for for a while. I guess that, for me, defines the lack of road presence - it didn't make me notice it.
