RE: New Evo and Scooby STi out testing
Discussion
the colour of the evo does it no favours! saw a red one on the net a while back that looked alot nicer! the rear end looks like a honda accord with those lights though! as for the scooby, what have subaru done! the designer must have been on drugs! dont know what theyre thinking, as there not going to sell it over here, and in japan, saloon cars are more popular than hatchbacks! im confused!
I'll be looking to change my Spec-D around that time so will be interesting how they shape up on the track... the review in the press on the new EVO was quite impressive... hope the bar is raised by both... not bothered what they look like really... its the pure enjoyment of the drive that does it for me... and at £30K, a lot of smiles per £!!
I'm not suprised at some of the opinions on here, most people since the evo concept have been of the opinon it can do no wrong.
Personally I would much rather have the sti, the front looks a lot less of an eyesore over all other imprezas, just the rear lets it down.
I have to say that Evo looks absolutly terrible where to start? Well, take an evo 9, replace the lights with some you salvaged off an r34 skyline for the front and some DC5 integra lights for the rear, take away the middle support in the bumper, widen it a bit, revert to the old evo 2 and 3 style bonnet vent system and hey presto you have an evo X that everyone instantly loves.

Indeed. That is Japanese design for you. As I understand it, they take different aspects of stuff they like and throw it all together. That is why Japanese car design is a tad fussy (and why it appeals to less-developed tastes). The irony is that modern, clean, simple living is inspired by Far East concepts.ninjaboy said:
No need to be hostile mate i'm just as entitled to an opinion as you. I've never thought they were pretty far from it if what i am saying is they dared to be diffrent and stick out now they are blending in the the dull golf/focus crowd. nd as for the coment about the spoiler were did i mention that? my current car aint got a spoiler my previous car did because it suited the car.
Sorry, was just a bit narked - not really directed just at you but I can't see where all this "old Impreza was unique" stuff comes from.IMO all Imprezas have been blander than a bland thing in non-turbo form, and some of them are no better with the wings and wheels on. I actually don't mind that - I've had 2 of them, and will probably have another before too long - but it seems hypocritical to lampoon the new one for dull styling when thats been a standard feature all along.

I personally think that the pinnacle of the Scoob's looks was with the P1. Now that was a nice car! Father should never have sold it!
Close, but the Version 4 Type R is slightly better looking. The P1 front spoiler is a tad on the ugly side.Well, at least all the chavs who have ther Rover 'MG' 45s can now rebadge them and pretend they are the new EVOs, and anyone who wants there car to look anything like the new Scooby, should be shot.
I know they say they are drivers cars, but... you have to look at the thing before you get in it. I'd say the Scooby is one of the uglyest cars of late.

Another couple of posts referring to the Evo's "insane" 4500 mile servicing intervals. Get over the fact they are 4500 miles apart and look at what you get. Between 11k miles and 20k miles my Evo cost approx £300 in servicing from a Ralliart Main Dealer and the only things that needed work were the service items. Compare that to an Elise say with it's "sensible" 9000mile services which I bet are far more expensive from a main dealer and always seem to include hidden extras as bits drop off.
The Scoob looks a bit of a non-event and I prefer the look of the Evo, it's built upon the 7/8/9 which I felt looked more cohesive and *designed* rather than factory modified. I'll reserve judgement until they can be driven.

I think bother cars look good. More so the Scooby. The previous Scoobies looked like Chav buckets, they got the rep and insurance is sky high on them compared to others.
Evo looks good, but the last 3 gens look good to (Much better looking the the Scoobys). But i think Subarau have taken a step forward to get out of the boy racer chav imagine
