Cheers Gaz - that looks really good!

Last few questions for a while - He says it has had the cambelt done by the previous owner - how much would a job like that cost?

Is 67k miles an issue? (Bear in mind my BM is on 167k! )

Also - Im still trying to find a specialist garage for servicing etc in the Midlands - can anyone help?

Finally - I want to get the car inspected professionally before purchasing - do the AA inspect imports, or is there a more specialist company?

Thanks again,

Russ

Cam belts done-is a good caring move, should be good for another 60k or so.Cost varys tremendously-should be £200 ish+(is it engine out for a MR2?).
PPl like AA do inspections,& that will/should give you some peace of mind.Unfortunately there are quite a few cases of them overlooking fairly obvious faults etc,not worth the £150.00 odd IMO.

I was going to go for one of these jobbies:

www.rac.co.uk/carbuying/examinations/essentials_plus

Not cheap, but it'll give me some peace of mind.

With cam belts-unless I have a mileage/reciept for a changed one, when I buy a car-almost any car over 50k,its worth changing it.Recent 'must have'with the skyline tweaking addicts is a kevlar cam belt £100.00ish I s'pose one could shoot bullets at it-just to see & its definately better than watching your pistons escaping thru your bonnet

Update: I have a guy looking at the Bimma this weekend. Sounds promising.

Apparently MRT bloke says he has a guy coming to look tomorrow. This may or may not be true.

I hope i dont miss out!

Another update: Sod it. I've decided to get this car before I've sold mine.

Im going to drive it in the wet tonight and then hoepfully put a deposit down subject to me getting it inspected and him getting it MOTed.

Its snowing here. If he is happy to let me drive, Im going to take it very easy just to see if its too scary - Im going to be using it in all weathers after all.
oops! I didn't see that last one.

V5 form, previous MOT's, service bills and receipts (imo the receipts tell you what the owner was like- check milages if recorded, but do check the dates).
A bonus will be the Jap auction paperwork, and a super bonus will be the shipping details, but don't bet on him having either).

Anyone else with ideas?
Its got all that stuff - no SVA doc though - should it have one?

Other than that and subject to inspection:

IVE JUST BOUGHT AN MR2 TURBO!!!!!1
:CLOUD9:

the deal: I ended up paying 3250. He will get it MOTed and put 2 new F1s on the rear.

Also, IVE SOLD THE BEEMER! To a guy on the e30 zone, who knows the car well. Bought it without even 'inspecting' it.

WOOHOO!!!!

Well done matey.

Now, find a wet empty car park and work out what it does on the limit.

Once my rebuild is done and the new clutch is in I'll be over at Vmax to put the 300bhp 4WD rally slag smack down on your silly Midship Runabouts....

Another update: Full inspection booked for Tuesday morning - the HPI checks are already back and everything is clear. Imported in 98 and I will be the 4th UK owner. Last owner change July 2002. Everything checks out so far!

I'd guess he will wait until after the inspection to get the MOT done (if there is anything majorly wrong it will need sorting) and the tyres will be needed to pass the MOT.

So hopefully, fingers crossed, I might be able to get my grubby mits on it next weekend!

Im looking forward to chavmobile baiting!

Im soiling myself with excitement. The beemer will be going on Sunday, which make me a little bit but nevermind!
