Long shot - but does any one know this car by any chance? A friend is looking to get in contact with the owner - has their name/location etc but can't find them on Facebook etc etc

Their post FYI is:

"Went for a test drive yesterday in a FQ-400
Loved it and want it! but here's the thing!

The owner crashed it, insurance told him it was CAT B and written off, so he got a 35K payout!
But the car was repaired and put up for auction at BCA and bought by a dealership in Halifax as a Cat D!

I've got the Reg, the Old owners Name, and town he lives in, but he phoned the dealership when they posted it on autotrader very angry as he was told it was written off! and he has all the document log book etc from the car! and all I want is a photo of the damage etc? can you help? haha

But how can I get in contact with him? is there anyway?"

It's a FQ-360 for a start...

And it is a Cat D, the same person owns it now had it when it was written off, it's not changed hands since.

Hi mate, i'm the above guy, but couldn't post the thread, all FQ-400's are listed as FQ-360 and then tuned and body kitted by Mitsubishi

And the guy who owned it called the dealership going crazy because he was told it would have been crushed, so how on earth has it got where it is and repaired? haha

Well, every day is a schoolday, I never knew that...

And it is showing on the register as Cat D, no B markers showing at all so I would expect there has been some embellishment on the story at some point regarding the insurance viewpoint on the car.

Haha I didn't know it either until the dealer who have it told me!

It's no.16 out of 30 or 32 or something haha

and yep I agree, but they said they bought it off BCA but BCA said that reg has never gone through them!

But the reg is the same now as it was in 2009 from the dealership which the guy bought it off in Derby in 2009, so the Reg has never changed!

Correct, that car has never changed.

So you're looking at buying the car? Or you own the car?

I'm looking the buy the car from a dealer who bought the car 'apparently' from BCA after it was repaired!

It's on Autotrader atm

I suggest you post this info on the MLR forum, it was probably a members car and will be known including the history.

Just read thru the autotrader advert.
I thought it was illegal to advertise an insurance graded write off vehicle without stating that it was just that.
Nothing in the advert that I can see.

Bit late to the party here but I actually remember that car advertised on Ebay.

16k I think roughly was the winning bid, it was a few years ago. I only know as I bid myself and 16k was way above what I was willing to pay.

It's correct they were all listed as FQ-360's. There's no real issue with a Cat B car going on the road so that shouldn't be an issue.
