Hi
I'm new to this site and to be honest I;m here due to a problem I have with my car I need some advice.
I own a Nissan almera tino 2.2 dci 136bh, its 3 year old next mth and has covered just under 27000 miles.
The recently developed brake judder, after retruning it to the garage where I bought it they confirmed that brake judder was
present and they advised me it would cost £249 to put right.
Well i kicked off and reminded them that the car had a 3 years manufacturers warrenty which still covered the car.
After contacting Nissan customer care, they advised that this could be repaired umder the warrenty, so arragements were made for my car to be taken back to the garage and inspected.
I was advided that the run out was measured and that it should be .8 mine measured 11, the receptionist said this was a fault,
there was another measurement taken number quoted was 27 but I can not remember what ths figure reffered to.
After reading emails in here on the same subject, couls someone please advise me, what the likly hud is of this being covered by the warranty,
I dont drive the car hard my ave speed is 22 mph and most of my driving is done from home to work 14 miles a day.
Regards
Harry.

Hi Harry,
Try also posting in Jap Chat http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&a...
You could either put a link to here or run with both threads
I don't have enough knowledge to help you but I always say the only real thing wrong with a Jap car is the English dealership
Brakes are usually a wear item so excluded from warrany unless faulty, I assume no one else drives the car (a youngster)
End of my bit

£249 to put WHAT right? Were they saying it needed new pads and discs? If so, I'd be amazed if that was covered by warranty, brakes are considered consumables. Have you owned the car from new? If so, and you drive carefully, you would expect discs to last a lot longer than that. But you can never prove that you drive the car gently, that's the problem. I wouldn't expect pads tp last this mileage either, they will NEVER be covered by warranty and quite rightly so.....The recently developed brake judder, after retruning it to the garage where I bought it they confirmed that brake judder was

Harry, if they refuse to cough up for these brakes, get yourself on ebay or down to your local motor factors (do a google search on 'motor factors ???????? your local area...). You'll get some discs and pads for peanuts, then take the car to a local garage, any grease monkey can fit discs and pads. DO NOT give any main dealer your money, you can get it done just as well at a local garage for half the price. Seriously mate, a local garage will do this job and eliminate the brake judder for a LOT less that 250 notes. Good luck, and keep us updated...
Hi tahnks for you comments, to answer some of your queries,
I am the sole driver of the car and Nissan customer sales did say that I could have the problem looked after under the warrenty if a faukt was foumd acoording to the garage the out measurement is a fault.
I read here that Ford carriedout an audit on all of the their cars (under warrenty)which suffered from brake judder and after very exhaustive detailed examination of data they pinned it down to the guns which are used to drive the wheel nuts back onto the road wheels. They said that these drill guns overtightend the nuts which put stress onto the disc. T hey now use the old fashyoned way a Torque wrench and re check after 100 miles.
Regards
Harry.

We heard you the first time!
Stop/start driving obviously wears the brakes out more than the equivalent mileage cruising, so it seems quite feasible that what you have there is simply normal wear and tear.
The cause of brake judder isn't always obvious, and I think that blaming it on disc run-out is probably a cop-out, but the causes do all come down to wear and tear at the end of the day and I wouldn't expect that to be covered by warranty.
