Toyota Reveals Three New Models

New Avensis and world's smallest four seater for Paris Show

Toyota has released pictures of the all-new, British-built Avensis ahead of the Paris Motor Show. The car replaces the dull original and has chunky, if a little uninspired, styling. The new Avensis will go on sale in January next year and features engines that are both more powerful and emit less CO2.

The Avensis will be joined at the show by two other cars – the iQ and the Urban Cruiser - which were both showcased in design concept form at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.

The iQ measures less than three metres long and is the world’s smallest premium four seater. The 1.4-litre D-4D diesel all-wheel drive Urban Cruiser has high levels of safety equipment and CO2 emissions level of 133g/km.

Love the idea of the iQ. It will be interesting to see what the real thing is like.

Saw an IQ at the motorshow. Not that different from an Aygo but those comedy sized wheels and tyres make it look really small.

That iQ looks fantastic. A triumph of packaging and design. And you know it'll last forever and never break down.

Hopefully it will be priced like the Aygo was, ie nice and cheap. it will be well built and be a great drive town car and cheap to run...

Then that leaves just enough room on the drive and money in the bank to have a proper car at home to play in at the weekends!

According to http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/11/frankfurt-2007-... it's "less than three metres in length (2980mm) ... width and height (1680mm x 1480mm)" compared to a Mini at 3050mm x 1410mm x 1350mm which makes it 7.4 cubic metres vs as opposed to 5.8 for the Mini.

Nowhere near "the world's smallest four seater" unless they've made it a lot smaller since then rolleyes

Yep, manufacturer of the worlds most boring cars. How it let itself produce such dull ste is beyond me. These last two look ok but the current range is suicidally dull, even Lexus is almost as bad.

When are Toyota going to start creating more 'Exciting' cars again? Like the Celica, Supra and MR2??

The Toyota stand at the motorshow was totally uninteresting to me... frown

Yes that's 'almost' the right idea !

I have said for years that most of us who would like to use some kind of Sport or Luxuary car would like to do so only in our leisure time or at weekends.

We should be given the incentive to use smaller cars for our general work vehicles and keep the bigger better stuff for time off, but no !

Government traffic depts etc would rather Tax Tax Tax and hit us with a stealth stick for everything !

Your car should not be taxed and insured, the person who drives it should be, thus making both Tax and insurance transferable.
A basic stationary car insurance should be introduced for the other vehicle you own and do not use on that day (even that should be optional).

Positive incentives must be given to the motorist and people in general, this tax and bad feeling of oppression by government must stop !

Time for a total rethink of how and why we use our cars, we are all dependent on our cars to some point, if we cant get rid of them
or stop people from using them, well the least we can do is to incentivize the use of smaller cars, otherwise big cars are here to stay !

Toyota's to me are like white goods..really well made and efficient but soulless and drab..even when they try to spice things up like the T-sport corrolla its just doesn't have any zest.. but they are planning a rwd replacement for the celica with scooby running gear which should be fun
