taffy www.babybmw.net will definitely be able to help you really nice forum, decent members
1addicts is a good site for the 135i, with plenty of info and an active forum. It's based in the US but has a UK subforum. Unlike the UK forums it's dedicated to the coupe/convertible because they never had the hatchback.

I've got a 135i convertible and absolutely love it. The combination of the torquey engine and nimble handling make it great fun to drive.

They have, but it's an auto! I saw it the other week and it's a great looking car with some of the performanc parts fitted. The only let down, apart from the auto box, is the obscene price tag. Matt
Hi all,
I have got a 135i coincidentally in white with red leather.
The car is amazing... I previously owned 2 Honda S2000's and really loved them. Needed a change as am doing a lot more miles. I was originally going to get a white 350Z but changed my mind and got a 135i instead - why? Well, the interior is really nice, the mpg is excellent in comparison.
On a long journey cruising at 85-90 I get an easy 28-32mpg. Even lots of urban driving with hard acceleration gives me 23mpg.
The car is very fast and is actually really good fun to drive, but the engine really does steal the show. Due to the low down torque 400nm at 1300 rpm it's a real weapon and very easy out of the lights and basically in any gear. Not a lot out there can touch it for useable easy performance.
Most US magazines have completed full performance reports (UK ones have used BMW figures) and have all achieved 0-60 in 4.8 secs and 0-100 in 11.5 secs, which is only a few tenthes short to 100 behind the E46 M3.
Any downsides? Well only one really. Coming from an S2000, the tendency to understeer is a little infuriating. This can be cured by either fatter front tyres (stocks are 215's) and/or a bigger rear sway bar - but this can take 2-3 hours to fit.
But I should mention the ride quality which is amazing - especially compared to other BMW's including the 1er hatch and 3 series when riding on big alloys and M Sport suspension. It doesn't crash over the bumps and unless on really poor roads resists tramlining. Our other car is a 335d SE Coupe on 19"s and is horrendous in comparison.
Please feel free to ask any questions, I have owned it since May and now done just shy of 5k miles - lots of pics here too: http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn145/moff135/1...
Also goto www.1addicts.com for lots of useful stuff.

That really is a very impressive set of statistics. Most US magazines have completed full performance reports (UK ones have used BMW figures) and have all achieved 0-60 in 4.8 secs and 0-100 in 11.5 secs, which is only a few tenthes short to 100 behind the E46 M3.
Welcome to PH moff, from another BMW-owning new bloke!
Hi all, and thanks for the welcome... even though I have probably been on here for about 5 years, but never really posted - had another userid that was just 'moff'.
To answer some questions!
The bat - haha, hit that little git on the way home at night, but only spotted it the next day. The last thing it saw really was it's own arse! Poor little bugger fell off in 3 pieces when I knocked it off the grill.
The pic above was taken in Saunton - North Devonshire, I was playing golf nearby at Saunton Sands and Sea.
The car really is fantastic, and I do admit that I did not buy the car on looks, but the white really does make a difference IMO and I have got really used to it and love it!
The best fun is approaching a set of lights with a 'larger' car or hot hatch in front e.g. Golf GTI / R32 or 530d... I creep along side and most just think it's a normal 1 series until I unleash hell on the green - childish I know!
It's so easy to pull away really quickly and you really can do flat out starts everytime in the dry. The wet gets trickier as the runflats are a bit poor in the wet.

A few, but they are mainly 'piggy backs' and American e.g. SSTT (seems to be the bes option), Dinan, Procede. In the UK you can get a Superchips (which apparently uses the SSTT piggy back) with about 340bhp. AC Schnitzer launch theirs very soon, but costs around 4000 euros and they require your ECU for the remap, and you could lose it if your dealer flashes the ECU.
I have been waiting for a decent remap option, but there isn't one yet - COME ON DMS!!!! The problem is the ECU for the *35i engines. It's highly encryted which is a pain, not sure why it's harder to remap than the *35d ECU???
I have changed the airfilter to a BMS one for some better noise, and will be soon changing again to a dual filter setup from AFE (looks and sounds a bit better).

This is quite useful:

"The 135i revs freely to redline, and in testing it hit 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds. The quarter mile was covered in 13.4 sec. at a speed of 104.0 mph."
I was .4 out on the 0-100mph, it's 11.9 secs according the the above link.

does the air filter release anything?
cheers!
I chickened on white and have a met black 135i, dealer gave just over £2500 off and ordered it to my spec.
I had the BMW performance exhaust fitted and its a superb sounding beastie, very meaty / throaty.
Car handles and rides very well. Brakes and engine however are both outstanding....
Check the Jezza Clarkson review on the times online he believes it the best bmw currently made.

Yeah, the BMW exhaust looks and sounds fantastic! Would love to hear it in the flesh.
If my car wasn't on only a 2 year lease I would order it.
I forgot to mention the brakes - simply outstanding! Apart from the ceramic option, do BMW provide better brakes on another BMW? 6 piston Brembos really are superb!!!
