In any case, get back ON TOPIC.

The brilliant and under rated 535d.

(If you want to whinge and moan and gripe about insurance companies not knowing about a free flow air filter, twin tail pipe extension or even chip upgrade, start your own thread and quit polluting this one with your constant and tedious wittering.)

I see a thread lock in the not too distant future.
Let's talk about the 535d, as the thread starter intended.

Can we close this insurance debate now, get back on topic and, unless someone feels like opening a separate thread, just accept that;
1)A (very) few people will tell their insurance company, even if they change the valve caps to coloured ones or indeed, pass wind on the M4.
2)A few more than that will tell them about an exhaust swap or filter change.
3)A lot more than that will advise if they increase the bhp.
4)A hell of a lot more than that will not bother if they feel the risk is incredibly slight of anyone ever knowing they changed the ecu settings.

All above groups of people will feel that they are right and the rest are wrong.
It's opinion. Move on.

Well i sold my heavily modified RS6 at the end of January & replaced her with a 4 month old 535D M-Sport & can say that i'm delighted with my choice of car.

She is of course a little slower than the RS6, but having been breathed on by DMS, she'd certainly keep up with 95% of the cars on the road, with only supercars getting the edge. Now 0-60 in 5.5secs & well over 500 lbsft of torque. I opted for a dealer demo car, as i wanted all the toys & boy is she stuffed full of them.

A great car full stop.

Nathan, Darth and Chaz would do well to read this.
Great car by the way. Congrats.

You just wouldn't let it lie would you? Bait taken.

I'm not going to make any comments about you since you'll only run to Ted crying again I'll just point out that w8pmc clearly states that supercars have the edge. Contradicts your little rants in the other thread slightly doesn't it? So yes I am glad I've read it.

Darth, i think 60 or 100 thousand pound supercars should have the edge, over a 4-door family diesel sedan with under 3000cc?
The guy also said that on the road, the DMS 535d (which he rates as a very good and very quick car) would keep up with 95% of vehicles.
His last car shows that he understands fast cars, remember.

I don't think that anyone would claim that on an open road or track, a 535d would stay with, say, my buddy's Ford GT.
But i for one cannot wait to pitch mine against stock M3 owners here.
'A great car, full stop' he said.

"Calm down dear." That's a quote from an insurance advert. Perhaps look into getting some.

I never said the 535d wasn't a great car. It is. And it is quick.

535d hangs on to the belief that his car is as quick as a Porsche Carrera S and the comments posted above say otherwise. That's all I was picking up on.

You're far too eager to leap down someone's throat and to his defence.

If i agree with someone i will back them up, as i have W8, heebeegeetee, gwaredd and indeed 535d.
The post from the ex-Audi owner was a very apt one, imo.
You jump up and down just as much with your views, it works both ways.

Darth, go away and come back when you get a decent car, ffs.
You talk a lotta rubbish and are making yourself sound a right dick.

Get a life. Then a car worth talking about.

I had a sounds system in my Merc V12 worth almost as much as your car, ya numpty.

DAFT Dave :-)

I was not claiming it was as quick on a track or drag strip, idiot.
Out there on the autobahn, my car stayed with a 2006 Porsche 997 in the circumstances we were in.
Since my car will do 180-ish mph that isn't so surprising, especially with a huge torque advantage over the flat-6 Porker.
It happened, get over it and stop sulking because your car is about as fast as the latest shopping trolleys.
Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

*Yawn*

I'm richer than you, my opinion is more valid as I have more money.

Do you model your personality on that of the Harry Enfield charactor?

Anyway, I'll shut up as you are "CONSIDERABLY richer than me"

535d you really are a troll.

The last thread ended due to you running and crying to Ted, probably because you did not like what was being said, and now you are starting off the whole pointless “slating” again. I think you may need a gf "mate".

You arrogant feckwit!

The amount of money you spend or claim to spend doesn't increase your IQ, nor your arguement validity.

FFS. Are the two Gary Boys STILL afraid of their own shadows? Jesus.

The mods on my car, apart from the back 'box are undetectable and i won't be telling anyone that i have had an ecu upgrade. How it is. The 5 other guys I know with 535ds who have had an upgrade haven't bothered either. As Carbon rightly says, 9 out of 10 DMS customers don't report the mod.

The 2 Garys are (clearly thick) hypocrites, who condone certain aspects of law breaking but only those that suit THEM. PATHETIC!

Gaz and Gaz, get down off you soap boxes, stop playing God and the Forum Police, get a life and quit telling people wtf to do.

You do things your way, you break the laws you want to and leave other people to attend to their own business.

Basically, butt out.

I use an insurance broker in Cambridge who i have been with for 20 years. I have made 3 claims in 25 years, never a problem getting paid out.

Period.

Great argument and well put.

Just glad I won't be in your shoes when you drive into someone and an Insurance assessor comes along with a black box and checks your black box, then turns round and says that as you've modified your car and not notified them they won't be paying....

Just a thought.

The changes CAN be found if BMW or someone with a PC wants to. The chances of them going to those lengths are slim for sure, but if you compare one data set with another and some of the datapoints are different, then its blindingly obvious that something has been changed ...

Do DMS do a before and after plot of these numbers on a rolling road?

No, the work was/is done at my house, however they're comfortable as am i that the re-map is exactly the same as the one they're applied to their own 535D, so no reason to doubt any difference in outputs, of course with the exclusion of any manufacturer differences that usually occur.

Many have rr'd their cars & the results all seem consistent.
