Are you scrapping the rear bumper Rich? If so, any chance I can scrounge it? smile
I was going to keep the little black M-tec style lip off the bottom of then bumper to go on the track car but the bumper's yours if you want it Mike, I'm in tomorrow if you want to call round.
Ah, that's the bit I was wondering if you were getting rid of! wink

325 and M3 are at 3.15, 3.23 for the evo
The 328 is a 2.93, but the 320 is a massive 3.45
Great stuff, looks like I'll be putting it on the track car then - should top out at about 130mph with the standard 325i engine then?

Do you know if the gearbox ratios are any different from the 325 and 320?
The same gearbox is used on most of the E36's, and a very similar but slightly stronger mechanically one on the M3 and 328's
Ratio's still work out the same give or take a fraction.

Thanks for that TE, so I'll keep the original box but swap the diff then.

if you are swapping it onto a 325, you'll need the back half of the prop at least, and the driveshafts / hubs, as these were all slightly longer to meet the little diff hiding in the middle

Thanks for that, I'd have never have thought I'd need to change all that too.

hehe You think you've got a problem!

Just aquired another 5 Series... E28 525e Lux, E34 520i SE Saloon, E39 525i SE Touring Auto and now....

96 N (so one of the last) E34 525TDS Touring Manual, Oxford Green with Silver Grey Leather, Climate Air Con (rare on E34's unless 540i or M5 etc) Self Leveling Sports Suspension, UnUsed Factory Detachable tow Pack, Full BMW FSH, a mere 97k miles, best driving E34 I've sat in!

anyone want a lovely 94 M E34 520i Manual in apple pie order? biggrin

Sounds great, my 325tds is on 146k and is just starting to slip the clutch a little when hot and going up steep hills. It's a great engine for smoothness, and power once chipped but it's not as good on fuel as you'd expect. I reckon I'd be better of with a 328i touring now that diesel's some 13% more per litre than petrol but the 250lb/ft comes in handy when towing.

Oh, and isn't it called Boston green rather than Oxford?

Nope, Boston on E36's, Oxford on E34's. Looking ok on juice so far, but not expecting it to save a fortune.

Hot and cold starts on the button, and idles beautifully... all issues to watch if what I've read is correct.

Only issue, is the air bag light always takes a short while to go out, well actually I think it goes out then flashes back up then goes out after anything between a couple of hundred yards or couple of miles (or a few minutes idling) any ideas?

You learn something new everyday, thought the E34's looked a bit darker anyway.

Sounds like you've got a good'un. Maybe worth checking the wire under the drivers seat is done up tightly, and maybe get the airbag light reset to see if that cures it.

I've had about 6 people ask me for the spoiler, I'm afraid I'm keeping it to go on my track car but I will have the original 325i one to get rid of if that's any good to you? Looks like this:

Shrewsbury you say scratchchin I'm after a couple of e36 bits for an engine conversion in my e30 - namely the engine mount arms off an M50, and a 325 engine loom - have you got any you might be persuaded to part with for some sheckles?

I'm sorry, but the more I dug around underneath the more rust I found - behind the front wings at the bottom was terrible and I didn't even need a socket to remove the front part on the one rear trailing arm.
