BMW don't want my money

As an X BMW salesman I think they are lazy or don't care. Why not try and ask for help mentioning you have 40k in your pocket and see them react. Don't blame the car though, just get it from someone else.
+1I went into one dealership and inquired about a new 535d m sport and all the salesmen were too busy to talk to me - or to phone me back for a fortnight. In the meantime i had ordered the car from a dealership 20 miles away....

Walked into BMW garage in South Yorks last Sunday with the proverbial £40k in my pocket to enquire about a 330D. Neither sales guy appeared to be too interested, and now 5 days later, I haven't even had a 'phone call.
Is this still the BMW way? I really must have been reading the wrong figures on global car sales at the moment, as this particular manufacturer is clearly not interested in selling them. Are we suddenly in a rationing situation???
I suspect that the salesman saw you for what you were. Let me guess.. You were dressed in torn dirty jeans & an offensive T Shirt. You had an extremely mouthey fat lady with you - & probably a couple of loud mouthed snotty nosed kids saying (looking at the most expensive car in the showroom) "Daaaaad, we want that ooneee!! Not many people short of Irish Travellers or Simon Cowell can afford to spend £40,000 on a car today. You are either a "Rip-Off" Electrician/Plumber or work for one of the TV Companies.
The majority of good men who have spent the last 6 years working for HM Government in Iraq & Afghanistan would call you a wker- as I do. Go think about your lifestyle preferences - & what lives you could save in Africa for only £10 a month.
If you're so self righteous, why dont you fk off to africa and save lives? Or is it easier to be smug on a forum where you dont even bother to list your own car (no doubt something instantly forgettable - like you)
I've read some of your other posts and its very obvious you have a chip on your shoulder about a neighbour / relative who owns a new BMW - why not just get a life and get over it. Arse.

Mikez328,
I think it is customary that when someone has been offensive and that offensiveness has been pointed out to them, an apology is the done thing!
BTW, I spent 6months in Afghanistan last year (making that 15months in total since 2001), four of my friends are dead, one in a wheelchair and personally couldn't care who is spending £40k on a car. And nor do I suspect any of my fellow servicemen so please don't think and speak for others you know nothing about.

Wow.....this thread needs a whole lot of chill injected!
I suspect the sales guys in your average BMW garage are being affected by economic conditions as much as everyone else (which might explain the hightened stress levels on here), which can be demotivating. It doesn't justify their lack of interest but they are probably more concerned about whether they will even have a job next month.
Anyway, if it were my 40k I'd be spending it on the one used M6 on the BMW AUC site and have change for a good night out, but the point is that everyone likes different cars!!! If we didn't this would be a real boring forum.
Daydreamer - I'd recommend making an appointment on a car you've seen and they will treat you differently.
Now all together....deep breath!

Returning to topic...
There seems to be a lot of this indifference towards customers, and not just within the car industry. A lot of shops seem somewhat disaffected towards the notion of someone's money going into their bank account. I would have though, given the economic climate right now, that businesses would be bending over backwards to get their hands on people's money, but it seems they're even less bothered than during the good times. Maybe they're already resigned to the thought that they're going under.

If you want a BMW, talk to donut....
When I spent £40 odd K (financed) on 335d last year he was very helpful, as in fact were the other two dealers I spoke with.
I told them what I wanted and what I wanted to pay, they laughed, we negotiated, I got the car I wanted for cash I was prepared to part with.
Derv/petrol, one does what one needs.

Think he said a good few weeks that he was leaving/sacked from said BMW group dont know where he went to. Maybe thats why he hasnt been on for a while doesnt need to drum up businessis it really that bad?? ... to be honest the deal isnt setting my pants on fire!!...they want almost 11k to "move up" to the 3 series!!!... usual dealer spiel ..."your car isnt worth anything, but ours is the bestest in the uk!!"... might aswell just buy a 45 plate 320cd and run em both!!
Just bought an 07 plate 330d Coupe (E92). Was originally looking for a 325i but a friend mentioned the 330d was worth a look and so I drove one and was sold on it. Less than 7 seconds to 60, 40MPG on a run and top speed of over 150! Oh, and the roadholding and torque levels are superb.
I paid £22.5k with only 14k miles on the clock and fully loaded (sat nav, run flats, alloys, leather etc.)
Diesels aren't just about more MPG's.

I had to re-read looking for the smiley, as I couldn't believe this was a serious response.

If I was 20 years younger, I'd say "pwnd". I wouldnt bother buying new and certainly wouldn't buy from a BMW dealer again after the 'great' service I experienced. Bought an M535d touring a year ago and even with 14% discount I've still lost £20k+.
