Jesus, that's horrible. Are you getting it repaired?

No idea tbh. Insurance had the car collected within about 90 minutes and when I asked about salvage rights they didn't sound keen. I'm told the laws have changed and I don't automatically have the right to retain possession. Especially where contamination is an issue. I am guessing the shell would need to be dipped to remove all traces of carbon etc? I envisage a bit of a battle with the insurance as it is. I know it's only a car but it represents 3 years of my life and 100's of hours of work, research, phone calls etc. It is one of the best known e21's out there and was magazine featured 5 times including July's issue of Total BMW Magazine.

This gives a clue as to how much it meant to me.

Gutted for you! I have always looked at the other photos you've posted and thought it was a fantastic looking car.

Hope it was on a guaranteed value policy to save another fight. If not you've got some pretty good info to answer their first offer 'It was an old car, we'll give you 28 pence for it'

A few fairly recent ones of the E39 - We've had it just over two years now and have put 24k on it smile

Its getting there, I have a passenger mirror glass in the post (its gone brown) but it needs a fog light (cracked recently), the front wheel arch trims are broken, I *need* a poplar gear shift trim and I'd like the wheels re-furbed but I'm not sure where to take them! Oh and It has a set of matching tyres now smile

Hello all,

My first BMW
a 2002 320
A good balance between having a 6 pot & getting half decent insurance!
I'm also odd & have loved Tourings from far too young an age

Really enjoying it so far.

Possibly, Works out at £380 all in but its getting them off and down there that's the problem, I need to borrow a set of wheels. I think I'd rather spend the money on new suspension first as well.
