The E39 by far the best looking one, what is it with the new back lights ?
Seems like the designers are blind or do they design the the front and forget the back ?
Although I'm a huge E39 fan I have to say the rear lights on the F10 are fantastic, one of the best parts of the design for me. Infact the whole F10 feels like an E39 replacement. The E60 looks like the odd one out in the model, inside and outside of an F10 it just feels like the natural progression of an E39. I used to worry that I hated the E60 because it's newer than the E39. Now the F10 is around I realise its not that at all.

The F10 back is an improvement on the E60 however not by much for me, BMW seem somehow to neglect the back.
The only big improvement I have seen at the back is the new 6 series as it now looks pretty good.

I posted these a while back in reader's cars but should be here too - 10 years of 5-series ownership for me. E39 530i Sport, E60 530d M Sport (I did a PB 133k miles in this one) and the latest addition F10 535d M Sport. You can't beat a good 5-series!
Fantastic car history! The new F10 is especially nice. How are you finding it?
I really like it. I liked my E60 a lot but the F10 has taken it to another level. The build quality is very high and it is lovely inside with a real feel of quality. All of the gadgets are vastly improved - much better sat nav and the HUD is really cool and you miss it when you drive another car. It rides much better than the E60 even on 19" run flats and the engine - wow! Huge amount of torque and just goes whenever you press the throttle, and doesn't run out of puff as the revs get high compared to other diesels I have driven. Plus the 8 speed box is very good - keeps it in the right gear but very smooth so you don't notice it changing. 3000 miles and just over 40 mpg. Looks wise, i genuinely like it and it gets a lot of positive comment, more so than any of the others. i would of still bought it if it was ugly mind as i have no imagination! So yes, I like it a lot biggrin. If I was to be critical, you can tell it is now a bigger car, and isn't the driving machine the E39 was, but that car was just so right, especially with the lovely straight six petrol.

Totally agree with that now I've had the F10 for a couple of months. The E39 just seemed so right and so does the F10. I always got out of my E39 thinking 'great car' and I feel the same about the F10. I never had that feeling for the E60 even though I kept it for 6 years - I liked the looks and the engine but it didn't engage like the E39 did and I think the F10 is a return to that.

Gotta say I am liking the new Z4 shape.. very manly indeed. Not many choice of fun hardtop verts out there... only SLK55AMG and new Z4 35Si comes to mind...

No not lowered just on msport suspension. This is the only full side shot I have since the wheels went on last week.

Thanks Jim, looks great. If you take any more please post this up, I am thinking of doing something similair to a red e90 I am looking to buy. What model and colour are the wheels, and what size are the tyres (do they catch at all?)

Fantastic looking car that.
I was thinking about one but the boot is tiny when the roof is down.

Hope you enjoy it, I loved my previous generation Z4

Definitely!

To get the beast you have to get the 35Si evil

Absolutely loving it so far, the 4 cylinder makes a less impressive noise than the 6 cylinder versions I've had before ( although the note is still quite good ) but the lighter nose seems to improve the handling a little and the delete-M.Suspension seems to strike a nice balance for the ride. The 184 engine is still quite peppy but I think the 28i is probably the perfect choice if you can get one at the right price.
