You've never driven a remapped 35d car then have you? 0-60 5.5s, 500lb/ft torque, delimited to around 174MPH. Why would you want a petrol car?
Because my idea of fun is pulling the upper end of the rev range when that is more than 7,000 rpm. I have a diesel too, and the rev range is a serious limitation to my idea of entertainment. My idea of fun is speed, handling and torque. I dont get a great deal of satisfaction out of ringing the nuts out of a car.
BTW theres quite a difference in how a 320d puts its power down compared to a 335d / 535d

I'm sure there is, but I like large-ish normally-aspirated engines with high-ish rev limits. I'm not too keen on turbocharged cars either. One of the things that puts me off the Z4M supercharger kit from ESS is the thought that it may change the character of the car. That and the cash, ofc.carl_w said:

I know of several people who went from an E46 M3 to a 335d and then mapped it. They love the effortless acceleration, its amazing, you just squeeze the throttle and it launches out of bends without breaking the slightest of sweats LOL.
I'd a remapped 535d last year and it was amazing. Recently i *nearly* bought an 07 335d Coupe, but i couldnt get the price / finance deal just right with the dealer. Bought another 535d M Sport instead. Still toying with remapping it OR tuning box (for simplicity / transferablity) OR maybe even just keeping it as is - its a swift car in standard formEdited by pgilc1 on Wednesday 23 July 19:22

Bernie, i dont use the car for work. Just as a toy.
You have a diesel as a toy? Why?It's a great car - a very great car - it's just a constant source of amusement the way he envangilises it all the time.
It's such a good car it'll be on my list of considerations for car change time, but then once I've got one I won't try and tell the world it's like a Ferrari but more fuel efficient.
Especially as it doesn't seem THAT fuel efficient.

Cant YOU change the record?

Commenting on the music thats constantly playing isn't the same thing as putting the track on in the first place.
But thats the whole point, its NOT constantly playing. Like myself dxb only comments on his car when the subject comes up and if its appropriate. Like the rest of us, hes otherwise not talking about his car constantly in all his posts. Also, whats with the 'his dad gave him it' comment that you ALWAYS bring up, when its not relevant, and given the constant denial of dxb, not apparently true either?
So as has been suggested by other forum members, can you maybe just drop it?

My spin on the 535 vs 520 debate - I've done the one done car fits all thing (335i Touring) and it doesn't work for me. Hence swapping for a 520d and (soon) a £10k Elise for weekends.
Point is, my 520d is a company car, so fuel and deprecition are not factors for me. However, lease costs and company car tax most certainly are and the 520d is at least £300/month less than the 535d when one takes these into consideration....i.e my budget for the Elise
I'm sure the 535d is wonderful (as was the 335i) but I'm utterly convinced that I'd take a 520d + Elise over either.

Trouble is - I have done the two car thing - and I always used to find I was in the wrong car hence why I went back to the one car does all thing (RS4 Avant)Point is, my 520d is a company car, so fuel and deprecition are not factors for me. Golf GT Tdi 150 + Boxster S, then moved onto an X5 3.0d Sport + 996. Sold those two to get a 4.8iS X5 only hoping that would float me boat but it didn't.....
However, now very happy with the 535d which seems to do the lot pretty well
