Your trap speed was lower than the VXR, your times are ok I guess it's easy to launch an auto with traction control, hence you ended up with a similar time to the VXR.

I feel sorry for the unwitting owner of the ex-Fandango strip-queen. The car's had a hard life and no mistake.

I thought this was a joke thread at first but no, it's another 335d (mapped) bumfest...great.

A diesel BMW running low 13's is good, just not really thread worthy news IMO.

Yes your car is quite quick, we all know that now. Great. Excellent. Now please just stop.

On a side note I was at Santa Pod on Sunday for the Mini in the Park meet. They had a Jet Car there running the strip in the low 6's. That was impressive yes

It seems this guy is getting a lot of hate about his 335d

Its a nice car, but does he brag about it too much?

but why take a 335d to a drag track? aren't 3 series known for their good handling?

Blimey guys, whatever you think of the guy those are solid times on the strip, I am impressed it ran that well.

And manuals are no where as easy to run on the strip as auto's so even better IMO.

Looks like you had fun down there, and that, at the the end of the day, is what it is all about smile

This guy seems to worship his car and never tires of telling everybody about it despite nobody caring. Everyone then seems to rip him to shreds.
I wonder why.

Is this really a true test of a car?

Drive it against a Suburu on a long set of twisties and that would be a more interesting test.

Put it up against a suitably modified 335 and that would be a more revealing test.

Put it up against a a modified 123d and that would be an even more interesting test

or an E39 M5 .. in fact a raft of other cars in tests other than how fast can someone sprint off a line.

You think the test is important because it 'proves' the car is a sports car or is somehow better than or at least equivalent to 'better' models of car. It isn't. It will never be a ferrari, or an Aston, or dare I say it even a 'humble' M3 E30 or E36 come to that. It doesn't matter how many cars it and you 'beat' it doesns't make a difference. In automotive history it will be an also-ran. A car that was good at what it did, but nothing special.

Think of it like this. Imagine it's a chocolate hob-nob(modified in some way if you like, your choice) that you dunk in your tea. Now, take the bickie out and examine the size of the hole in the cup of tea left behind. Yep, that's about the size of it re: automotive significance.

HTH and all that jazz..

(Nice car mind, for trolling up and down the motorways, but for the money, really you could have got something a little more special)

He doesn't seem to get that most of us know what we are talking about and that all of us know that a 335d is a very quick diesel.

I would much rather have my little 1.4 Corsa then that 335d, mainly because the Corsa has a character. It's not that fast, but it looks good and is well made.

I can bet that everyone on here could say the same about their own cars, hence why their on this site, because they love cars and especially their own cars.

We've heard enough about you mapped 335d now, I enjoyed your right-ups, quite liked the RS6 one, but stop comparing it to you 335d as the cars are in different classes.

Now i'm not saying 'SHUT UP AND fk OFF', i'm saying shut up about your 335d and join in the general discussion and let all this awfulness behind us all.

You get my vote for a permanent ban. You think the corsa looks good,is well made and would rather own one than a BMW(mapped)? hehe

Well I for one think that those times are very impressive.

I would consider an E92 M3 to be a very quick car in the real world. For a diesel version to post similar times over a standing quarter, which I'd argue is not where it will be at its strongest, is very, very impressive.

I can only imagine how that must feel on the road.

Obviously the original poster has rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way, an a lot of people have seen fit to include "335 (mapped)" in almost evry post they make, but I think those vids show a very quick car.

Yes I know we can all give examples of quicker, but if I understand correctly, its a standard car with a remap. and a lot of "performance" cars would struggle to put in 13.3s.

It's horses for courses, but it would make me wonder wether an M3 was as capable for an average driver in real world give and take traffic.

Good on you dxb335d for properly enjoying your car, and a big thumbs up for posting the Santa Pod vids.

And a big thumbs down to all the guys giving dxb335d such a hard time, some rather nasty comments have been made.

Perhaps they know deep down the mapped 335d is superior to their own cars? The ladies protest too much ; )

I am a long time petrol only fan, but this anti-mapped 335d backlash is perversely increasing their appeal to me. I have previously driven an unmapped 535d which I wasn't that impressed by, but now I'm going to arrange a drive of a mapped 335d.
