WTF? How did a "why isn't my dealer interested" post turn into a (i) you're a tw*t cos you can afford a nice new car, and (ii) you're a tw*t for buying a diesel type debate?
The former should p1ss off away from PH to a lentalist forum elsewhere and the latter should just accept that for some people the diesel will suit them more than the equivalent petrol. And yes, I do have a diesel 3 series with a list price of £47k, as well as a rather nice petrol one.
The OP asked a valid question FFS.

And what is the big problem with buying new cars round here?
I had a poor experience in a well known Farnborough dealership recently. I waited 5 days for the quotations I was promised and got nothing. Maybe I should have suspected trouble when the salesman told me that their sales had been completely unaffected by the economy.
enjoy the car mate and i hope it's a happy purchase.

Mikez328,
I think it is customary that when someone has been offensive and that offensiveness has been pointed out to them, an apology is the done thing!
BTW, I spent 6months in Afghanistan last year (making that 15months in total since 2001), four of my friends are dead, one in a wheelchair and personally couldn't care who is spending £40k on a car. And nor do I suspect any of my fellow servicemen so please don't think and speak for others you know nothing about.
Steve
Here's my apology: Sorry.I think it is customary that when someone has been offensive and that offensiveness has been pointed out to them, an apology is the done thing!

I spent the early part of 1982 as one of the youngest (26 yrs old) "Black Buck" Vulcan pilots in the Falklands. Then I ended up in 1991 bombing Iraqi airfields in the Tornado GR4. I finished up flying Tornado F3's until 1997 from RAF Coningsby. Then I worked in Bosnia & Serbia as a "UN Peacekeeper" to earn a crust...
Whilst I admire people on the ground I take a pretty dim view of your opinions. At least when the s**t flies you can duck down. In an aircraft with the Anti A/C shells exploding in your face you just cross your fingers - because you just don't have any other options. So yes Stevesingo, I know something about the dark side of life. I was lucky - as were you. Have a good life now & forget the past or it will take you to the grave.

Judging from some of your other posts on this site, your clearly a racist, so dont pretend you care about people in Africa. No one forced you to join any army, maybe you just hate the world because you were buttf***ed while you were serving. You need to shut up because your opinions are like those of a 2 year old.

It appears that old habits die hard.
Walked into BMW garage in South Yorks last Sunday with the proverbial £40k in my pocket to enquire about a 330D. Neither sales guy appeared to be too interested, and now 5 days later, I haven't even had a 'phone call.
Is this still the BMW way? I really must have been reading the wrong figures on global car sales at the moment, as this particular manufacturer is clearly not interested in selling them. Are we suddenly in a rationing situation???
I suspect that the salesman saw you for what you were. Let me guess.. You were dressed in torn dirty jeans & an offensive T Shirt. You had an extremely mouthey fat lady with you - & probably a couple of loud mouthed snotty nosed kids saying (looking at the most expensive car in the showroom) "Daaaaad, we want that ooneee!! "Squeal"!!!Walked into BMW garage in South Yorks last Sunday with the proverbial £40k in my pocket to enquire about a 330D. Not many people short of Irish Travellers or Simon Cowell can afford to spend £40,000 on a car today. You are either a "Rip-Off" Electrician/Plumber or work for one of the TV Companies.
The majority of good men who have spent the last 6 years working for HM Government in Iraq & Afghanistan would call you a wker- as I do. Go think about your lifestyle preferences - & what lives you could save in Africa for only £10 a month.
If you're so self righteous, why dont you fk off to africa and save lives? Or is it easier to be smug on a forum where you dont even bother to list your own car (no doubt something instantly forgettable - like you)
I've read some of your other posts and its very obvious you have a chip on your shoulder about a neighbour / relative who owns a new BMW - why not just get a life and get over it. Arse.
