That's really st - no idea why people do stuff like that?
Did you manage to get away with reasonably lightly on the wheel bearing front?
Fingers crossed, it's being done tomorrow. They also mentioned crankshaft possible stumbling blocks. Without this, we've been quoted between £250-350.Did you manage to get away with reasonably lightly on the wheel bearing front?
And yes, prize pricks. I was furious when I first saw it

Hopefully it won’t be too bad….
I supplied the parts (£70), labour was £600 in the end including realignment. They had the car for a day and a half because the drive shafts were seized solid in the hub. They were fkers to remove apparently….glad I didn’t attempt it on the drive!
Looks like my bill is heading this way. Car still at the garage, hopefully done at some point tomorrow. Barings, likewise, seized solid.I supplied the parts (£70), labour was £600 in the end including realignment. That’s a pisser, but probably to be expected given the age of the car. Mud, water and road salt don’t do them any favours whatsoever unfortunately. d_a_n1979 said:
Hit a pothole yesterday; bent a drop link! The way it goes; only pennies thankfully
New ones ordered; also ordered Powerflex front ARB bushes as you can hear one binding...
Will get them sorted when I'm back from Dublin week after next
Good effort that mate. Any impact on the alignment?New ones ordered; also ordered Powerflex front ARB bushes as you can hear one binding...

Replacing it with a Meyle HD one for now
Yesterday, I did an oil change on the E46 330d (210k miles) and today I changed the oil on the E92 335d (110k). They were both overdue based on time and by own mileage standards of every 10k, but I definitely won't ever be pushing them to 18k+ like the service indicators suggest.
Noticed some grease seeping from the ball joint on the Febi suspension arm I only fitted to the E46 in August for its MOT, which is a bit annoying, so I guess a replacement of the pair will be done before this August. It isn't a daily driver any longer, so there is no hurry to sort it, but I will likely go for Meyle HD again as they are what I fitted when I bought the car in 2014 and they lasted really well.
Next job for the E92 is both front shocks and top mounts as the current shocks are past it. I have a pair of Bilsteins to go on in a week's time when I'm off work.
I would like to give them both a clay/decon, polish and apply some Gyeon CanCoat to both of them, but mechanicals come first.

Sworn at it. Lots. BMW wanted over £1000 for all the new drive shaft parts required, but what has REALLY pissed me off is that BMW have decided to discontinue the driveshaft. A really dirty move IMO, especially as this shape was on sale as recently as 2013. It's them trying to be clever, 'oh, that part's NLA, can we interest Sir in a new model?' I've put in a complaint to BM, which (honestly) is something I rarely do.
I've ended up ordering none OEM bits off Autodoc, and the parts are seemingly pretty well regarded. Only at the end of the order did I realise the bits are coming from Germany, so fk knows when they'll arrive. I tried getting in touch with them by the only way possible, probably the worst auto bot I've ever experienced, which is saying something. However I worded my request it spat out a none related answer, then when I answered no to 'have we answered your question' it ended the chat!
I guess we'll just have to wait for them to come, annoying, as it means missing both Mothers Day today, and likely my Brothers birthday on Saturday. Sarah has also had to postpone going south to see her olds.
Sorry for being the misery guts, but this is the most pissed off I've been with a car for some time now.

I’ve had Autodoc bits come quite quickly so I think they might have a UK warehouse.
Well, that gives me some hope at least, cheers. And I suppose, after it's finally all sorted the rear of the car wont sound like a spin dryer. Edited by Fermit on Sunday 10th March 16:50

No they don't. I believe it's more to do with batching orders up together. If you're lucky and order shortly before the next UK shipment is going they come within a week. Most of the time it's a couple of weeks. My order placed on the 4th March is now with the courier, I expect it'll arrive Wed-Fri coming. helix402 said:

Agree with what pistonhead said - it all comes from Germany; just depends on the order and what thehy've physically to hanbd and what they order in from their stockists and then ship out to youWhen I had some returns to send a few years back for my E39 touring; I ended up on their online chat with an English lad that works for them, based out there in Germany and he explained the above.
Generally mainstay parts like brake discs/pads/suspension arms etc they'll have to hand there & then; shocks/springs (more so the Bilsten/Eibach stuff or coilovers); they'll get directly from their stockists

Annoying re the driveshafts; bdchild found similar with his 125i. BMW are nor good when it comes to the supply of parts for older cars so it’s a surprise (Audi for example aren’t very good at supporting older models).

(replying to all) I'm envisaging 1-2 weeks. Anything else is a bonus. It is what it is, no point wasting energy getting angry about it (after blowing off steam yesterday!) Still, I think it's piss poor that they're NLA from BMW, and that you have to purchase from Germany, to get stock, at a third of the price. If anyone has a part number for the 'hub carrier' that would be great. It's the last bit needed to order, and however much I keep nudging the garage for the p/n off my in bits car, or even a photo, they're not really being forthcoming with the info. Will call them again today, to try and get that wrapped up, so then I can just sit back and wait in the knowledge that the cogs are in motion.PistonHead007 said:

I ordered some wipers for my e39, took 3 weeks to arrive, unfortunately they use evri to deliver. I was sent an email saying delivered and a picture of a smashed up box and asked if i was happy........replied with 'did you see the state of the box in the picture you sent me?Really want to order from autodoc again but the state the package arrived in has put me off from ever using them again.

I agree that using Evri is a stty move on their behalf; our local Evri delivery 'man with a van' is an utter twonk and I've had words with him a few times now; more so as he reversed into our wall and put a huge crack in it! Denied all knowledge until I showed him the Ring camera video!
Small bits come via a young Every delivery drive and he's sound; no issues and he knows where to pop it if I'm not in etc; but big parts like all my suspension recently for my F31; came via the knobber and the outer box was all caved in etc!
