I've tried a laptop with a standard RS 232 port and couldn't get it to work. The same laptop and cable/convertor works with carsoft. Any ideas? I can't find any place to tell the SW what com port to use.
I think there is a file called obd port setup, that should work, I didn't configure anything.

The cable for carsoft wont work with edibas as I understand it.
Still waiting for my edibas cable from germany at the moment. But I've now got the GT1/DIS system running, which I should be able to connect to my EDIBAS cable to emulate the yellow diag head. All very interesting stuff.

I doubt that, I think you will need a proper GT1 connection dealie, which costs £1-3k

unless you have information that shows otherwise?

Note sure I understand why that could be. The protocol (electrical and data) at the PC end is the same and at the car end as well, no?

Just going on what I've read. Once I get mine, I will be a little more informed!

Just downloaded the software myself and am running into the same problem described by Derin, regardless of weather I try to install it in german or english. I've set the enviroment variables and followed the install guide to the (german) letter. Still comes up with the error that program.lzh is missing.

Anyone managed to download this version specifically and install it successfully? Maybe Jamoor missed out the file when uploading? confused

Yes I have installed this download successfully. Have you unzipped the file onto your PC? If you just open it with Windows and then try to run the files inside, that might be the problem.

Anyway, now I have the software, the cable and the PCMCIA card - any tips on how to work it?!

Yeah, fully extracted it. Is there a specific folder it should be extracted to before installation? I haven't found a file in the archive called program.lzh, does anyone have this?

Can someone tell me, what models the software they have seems to cover. I wanted E36 and E31 but neither are represented. I just wonder if my software is a different version. It seems to cover 85,46,65, 39,52,53,60,83,R50

miniman, if you get no joy send me a stamped addressed CD and I'll copy mine for you.

Should have tried this earlier! rolleyes I put the whole content of the zip file into "C:\BMW", instead of "C:\Program Files\BMW" and it will now install no problem!

Now I just need the cable! thumbup

In the main INPA menu, chose "Alte Baureihen" with <shift> + <F5> for a list of other models. Both e36 and e31 are on the list with their respective subsystems.

Well, before you do that might be worth checking someone has got it working on a cardbus or PCIe slot. My cardbus adaptor doesn't seem to work. The program runs but just error 18 fails to connect to the car. The obdsetup runs fine and says everything is okay, but still nothing communicates.

Might be worth waiting to copy someone who has it working either with cardbus pciex or just a usb adapter

Jamoor - any tips on how to work this please? I have cable, adapter, software - but no idea where to start! I don't even know whether I want EDIABAS or INPA or some combination of the two! Any advice appreciated! I just want to pick up fault codes for the airbags and reset, and also reset the service lights.

Just install the software that's in German! (Does anyone have the English version?) plug in all the cables and it should just work, it's not hard to use.

Hmmm, it should just start itself up when the cable is plugged into the car?
